Another week means another update for Warzone. So, what's getting nerfed and what's getting buffed? Are players frantically editing their classes in the pre-game, or is the meta safe for another week? Let's find out in the latest patch notes for Warzone.

Let's be real for a moment: Warzone is in a constant state of flux. The game is chock-a-block full of broken builds ready to be discovered and nerfed. Other than Warzone's weekly playlist update (which we get every Thursday), these balance changes are implemented in regular intervals, with major changes whenever Raven Software introduce new season and mid-season updates.

Warzone Update July 28 / Season 4: Reloaded | Patch Notes

Weapon Adjustments

We’ve seen a positive change in kill metrics since the update to Snipers in Season Three. The intent was to lean into smaller maps favoring the Aggressive Snipers vs Heavier being more suited for the large map. Our data shows that despite a smaller adoption rate (~9.5%) Snipers are still being accredited with a competitive amount of kills vs the more popular class of Weapons.

However, we’d like to lean into the Weapon to map identity harder, and as such all Snipers are receiving roughly a 35% bonus to their maximum damage range. Lighter rifles, with their damage range builds, will now more reliably cover the typical sight lines found in Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep. The goal is to not return to the fastest ADS Snipers being the dominant Weapon in all scenarios - so if things begin to trend that way we will make targeted changes to other statistics of those stand-out Weapons.

  • Serpentine
    • Damage Reduction decreased to 15%, down from 20%
    • We’ve seen a positive adoption of Serpentine in Loadouts, and as such average encounter time has crept up. We’re reducing the bonus damage mitigation so that it’s still a valuable perk, but has less of an impact on average TTK. We’ll be watching this space closely and will make further adjustments as necessary.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue on Fortune’s Keep causing the gas to be more difficult to see than intended.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed Players to exploit Weapon Trade Stations.
  • Fixed an issue causing Deployable Buy Stations to remain active in the gas - allowing for unintended exploits.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Skål Crusher (VG) to not have a Zombies Mastery Camo section available.
  • Fixed an issue causing incorrect unlock criteria to appear for the “The Vault" Vehicle skin in the Vehicle Customization menu.
  • Fixed collision issues with the AI mercenaries during the Cash Extraction Event on Fortune’s Keep.

Warzone Update July 27 | Patch Notes

General

  • Base Weapons from Vanguard Season One through Season Three have been unlocked for all Players.
  • Zombie Camos from Vanguard are now available and equippable in Warzone.
  • Previously, if a Player had enough money and a redeploy token, the redeploy token would be used before the money. Now, money will be used first.
    If a Player has a redeploy token and no money, the redeploy token will be spent.
  • The Gas Circle radii size and timings have been rebalanced for faster match pacing.
  • New Weapon: Vargo-S (Assault Rifle).

What Is The Current Warzone Meta?

Of course, the meta will soon change fundamentally with all the new weapons, but until then we still have to rely on the old meta. The meta usually always consists of a long range assault rifle, a good MP and a sniper.

Current Warzone AR Meta: KG M40

The KG M40 is Vanguard's M4. It is very easy to play, has hardly any recoil, a decent range, a decent TTK and is basically a great all-rounder. Sure in close combat you should go for an SMG, but at longer ranges the KG M40 is just really nice at the moment. Here is our assault rifle Tier list and our best KG M40 setup.

Current Warzone SMG Meta: Typ 100

The Type 100 has an abysmally high rate of fire and destroys everything in close combat, making it the current SMG meta. Combined with a good long range weapon, the Type 100 is simply awesome. Here is our SMG Tier List and our best Type 100 setup.

Current Warzone Sniper Meta: ZRG 20mm

There is no doubt that the ZRG 20mm is the current warzone sniper meta. Since the faster snipers such as the Kar98k or Swiss K31 have been nerfed, the slower snipers are back in the race. Here is our sniper tier list and our best ZRG setup.
