[Update, May 13, 2022]
You were probably hoping for a "This was all fake" or "This isn't happening after all" update, right? Well, sorry, but no. However, the deal is currently "on hold" as Musk tweeted today. We don't know when the takeover will happen, but we're assuming it'll be some while.
Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of usershttps://t.co/Y2t0QMuuyn— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 13, 2022
Elon Musk's never ending quest to become a real life Tony Stark continues: After challenging Putin to a life or death 1v1 battle, Elon Musk has now moved on to more pressing matters: For a breezy 3 billion, he bought 9.2% of Twitter, making him the largest shareholder. His first course of action? Introduce an Edit button.
Elon Musk Introduces Edit Button To Twitter
Do you want an edit button?— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 5, 2022
You gotta love the fact that Elon has a typo in there. Yes. On. Because... edit... you get it? Love it.
Of course, the other 90% of more corporate-behaving Twitter owners quickly let it be known that the idea does not come from an Elon Musk poll. Rather, the idea of an edit button has been floating around since 2021, and the button even has a design already:
Now that it's clear Elon didn't come up with the idea of an edit button, the question is: What else will Elon do? Of course, he gave us the cookie-cutter statement of "I look forward to working with Twitter..." bla, bla, bla, but you don't become Amouranth's crush and soon-to-be Iron Man by introducing vanilla edits. Elon Musk is a man of grandeur, and we expect grand things, now that he owns 10% in the platform that essentially drives modern day communication. A single, self-obsessed individual owns majority shares in the world's most important communication platform. What could possibly go wrong?
