Even before the end of Invincible season 1, people were already begging for season 2, me included. I'm glad, they not only confirmed, they are going to renew the show for a second season, but also a third one. But when will we get the Invincible season 2 release?
Invincible and the Boys were a breath of fresh air in the superhero genre. Invincible especially so, as it revived the early style of animated shows like Justice League, just to give it a nice and spicy twist in the end of the first episode.
Now that Marvel is killing the superhero genre again, with boring titles, when is Invincible season two going to release for another breath of fresh air?
Invincible Season 2: Release Date
The sad thing is, so far, we don't have a release date. The first season dropped in March 2021, and they confirmed the second season in the very same year, hell the very next month they did so.

Still, we probably will have to wait at least until early 2023, if not longer. Kirkman himself spoke about this in an interview with Collider, back in March 2021:
The production timeline is somewhat daunting. I think that we spend a number of years developing and working on this season. As we hopefully move into Season 2 and beyond, things will tighten.
So, obviously we don't exactly know how long it took them to finish the first season, but at least they will be faster with future seasons. So don't despair, I'm pretty sure, we can expect news about season 2 in 2023 and maybe even a release.
If you need to kill time, here's some more news about upcoming releases:
I am very optimistic, though, that the time they spend now, will be well spend on the quality of the show. Personally, I prefer getting a good show late, over a bad show, early. Even more so with all the expectations building up.
Invincible Season 2: The Cast
The cast for Invincible is stacked to the brim with great characters and also, great voice actors. I'm pretty sure most of them will return for season 2, together with some new additions:
- Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson / Invincible
- Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson
- JK Simmons as Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man
- Zachary Quinto as Robot
- Ross Marquand as Rudy Connors, Robot's new real body
- Gillian Jacobs as Samantha Eve Wilkins / Atom Eve
- Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Sloan / Rex Splode
- Malese Jow as Kate Cha / Dupli-Kate
- Grey Griffin as Shrinking Rae
- Khary Payton as Black Samson
- Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman
- Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien
- Mahershala Ali as Titan
- Kevin Michael Richardson as The Mauler Twins
- Andrew Rannells as William Clockwell
- Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennet
- Mark Hamill as Art Rosenbaum
And there's going to be even more! I mean, there will obviously be new characters, introduced in season 2.

Invincible Season 2: The Plot
With the end of season 1 we left of, with Mark being beaten to a bloody pulp and recovering. Just wanted to mention that again. Cecil asked him to be the next defender of Earth, so that will probably be a bit chunk of the second season.
If you like superhero stuff, here is the Marvel releases for 2022:
There are more than enough enemies Mark will have to face in the future, which they kindly reminded us of, in the last episode.

In an Interview with The AV Club Kirkman himself said that the final episode of the first season is a good place to look for plot elements of season 2.
Even the small details will come into play in a big way in the future. I wanted to work in way more of those pops but it was becoming ridiculous.
That's great to hear, but I'm curious how they are gonna do that. The importance of some details is kinda obvious, but where are they gonna draw the line? I mean, obviously Omni-Man beating up Mark so bad, that the trauma will probably make him wet his bed, until he is 500 years old will have a lasting impact on his development. Duh. But I am curious what "small" details will turn out to be relevant.
Btw. I know this is a little off-topic, but I just love the title and had to put it in here:
One thing I'm looking forward to the most, though, is the addition of new characters to the roster of already established ones. Kirkman already teased a major foe for Mark in the coming seasons with Angstrom Levy.
Levy is a genius super villain, who has the power to open dimensional portals to other realities. So we might get some MultiVersus shenanigans.
All in all we have more than enough villains, to keep things interesting, with the ones left from season one and the possible addition of Angstrom Levy.
I also hope that Omni-Man will make his return, as now, he has turned into an extremely complex antagonist, torn between his loyalty to the Viltrumite Empire and his love for his family, which includes his dog/wife.
