The possibility of Hogwarts Legacy being delayed has been heatedly discussed for some months now. And thanks to a certain leaker, more fuel has been added to the fire. Obviously, this would be tragic news, as Hogwarts Legacy is looking like the best Harry Potter game we've had in a long time (perhaps this could even reach the iconic highs of a Chamber of Secrets, or Quidditch World Cup). But if the game needs more time in the oven, then so be it. That would certainly be better than a disappointment as great as Battlefield 2042 or a Cyberpunk. Anyway, let's not dwell on such a horrible idea, here's what we know about the delay.
Insider claims that Hogwarts Legacy will be delayed
As Comicbook reported, a known Hogwarts Legacy insider, who goes by the Twitter handle AccountNGT, has suggested that a Hogwarts Legacy delay into 2023 is becoming more likely. In a since deleted Tweet AccountNGT said that "at this point a delay to early 2023 wouldn't even surprise me" in response to a discussion concerning the game's current state. We don't mean to be alarmist, but other evidence also suggests that a delay in 2023 will happen.
For one, this is a very long time to have not had a release date, considering how open they've been with other aspects of development. And secondly, back in February the PlayStation insider Colin Moriarty also claimed that a delay could be on the cards. This was on the Sacred Symbols podcast, Moriarty claimed that he was hearing "behind the scenes that [the] game isn't coming out this year."
Given the other evidence that corroborates this claim, we think fans should prepare themselves for a 2023 delay of Hogwarts Legacy.
And that's all we know so far. We really hope that this isn't true, but we aren't optimistic; delays are to be expected these days...
