The Sims is finally going free-to-play, something it really should have done a long time ago.
We expect this to be officially announced in a few hours, but for now this is just a leak. However, it comes from a trusted source, so we're 95% confident in this one.
For those who have just seen "free" and wanted to check this out, the Sims 4 has a pretty solid metacritic rating (70%) and should let you recreate all the old nonsense we used to get up to in earlier Sims games. So even if this isn't your usual genre, we think most gamers should get a few hours of fun, and when it's free what harm is there in trying?
Sims 4 Going Free-to-Play
The Sims 4 will be going free-to-play on October 18 according to Instant-Gaming (one of the biggest 3rd-party Steam Key sellers). They got the news from an insider at EA, and they've even suggested that EA themselves will confirm this news in a matter of hours. Here was exactly what they claimed:
We all love free stuff, so this is obviously great news. Although, it does seem like a move that EA should have made a long-time ago. Sims is basically the perfect free-to-play game; everyone will try it and then there's an almost limitless amount of in-game cosmetics they can sell to make up the cost.
So there you have it folks, short and simple news, but we hope it put a smile on your face. If you're looking for more free games this month then you should check out this recent news about 100+ Ubisoft games also going free-to-play this month.
