Crimson desert — **4. Crimson Desert |** In development by Pearl Abyss, the makers of Black Desert Online. **The game is surprisingly slated for a late 2021 release**, which is very hard to believe after seeing its **recent preview**. After all, Pearl Abyss is known for its superhuman speed when it comes to churning out content. Whether this game is a full-on MMO or one of these new MMO-lite genre games is still unclear. What we do know, is it will lean heavily on storytelling and RPG aspects and will feature action-combat that looks a lot like Assassin’s Creed. (Credit: Pearl Abyss).

Blue protocol — **3. Blue Protocol |** An upcoming MMORPG developed and published by Bandai Namco. Now normally, anime MMOs would not be on most fan’s radar, but times are changing. With the recent success of games like Genshin Impact, we can no longer instantly write off these anime-style games. **Blue Protocol will be a 100% PVE MMO and** will feature crafting, dungeons, world bosses and raids. New world mmo — **2. New World |**This game is in the final stages of development and is Amazon Game Studios' first big game. **It has now settled on a Spring 2021 release date**. The game will be an open-world RPG with lots of sandbox elements, but in recent beta tests, seems to be trending towards a more theme-park MMO, leaving it unclear on what exactly it will be once launched. **The combat feels very impactful, and has a Dark Souls vibe to it, which will be amazing during its** **50v50 PvP battles.** (Credit: Amazon Game Studios).

Ashes of Creation |** This game is by Intrepid Studios and is said to be the next great MMO. **The developers claim they were fed up with the direction of modern-day MMOs, so they decided to make their own**. We can hopefully see some kind of beta in 2021, as this game has been in alpha testing for an extremely long time and hype for this game is fading. It promises PVP content in the form of battlegrounds, open-world PVP, and guild vs guild combat.
