Games That Need A Sequel

1-11

Why didn't we get one?

10 games that most deserve a sequel

Was kann man da machen?

Games That Deserve A Sequel Bloodborne

10. Bloodborne (2015)

Bloodborne gained a cult-following within the already huge Souls fanbase, and they've been pleading for a sequel for years now. And before you say "just play Elden Ring", there is a distinct difference between Bloodborne and the rest of the FromSoftware games. The tone, the atmosphere, it was all so perfectly done in this game, and we want to revisit that world in a sequel. | © Sony

Games That Deserve A Sequel Bully

9. Bully (2006)

Bully was controversial even for 2006, and so maybe it wouldn't be feasible in 2022, but this was a very cool and rarely-seen setting. Why haven't we had more high-school games in general? Give us a sequel please, Rockstar. Hogwarts Legacy looks awesome, but it won't quite scratch the same itch. | © Rockstar

Starcraft 2

8. Starcraft 2 (2010)

Are RTS games just not popular anymore? It blows my mind that we never received a new Starcraft game, but given the state of things at Blizzard HQ, it doesn't look like we'll be getting one soon. What a shame, this was by far and away one of the most impressively balanced games ever released. | © Blizzard

Games That Deserve A Sequel The Warriors

7. The Warriors (2005)

The Warriors is a fantastic film set in gangland New York in the 70s, with a plot inspired by Spartan mythology. If you've seen the film, you'll understand how perfectly suited it was for a video game adaptation, and Rockstar's version absolutely delivered. It's described as a beat 'em up, but it also featured a great campaign that condensed The Warriors film's story very effectively. This game deserves a sequel to further explore the film's narrative and to bring the fighting onto modern technology. | © Rockstar

Games That Deserve A Sequel Demon Souls

5. Demon's Souls (2009)

And a second FromSoftware game! Also, the game didn't look this good in '09, this pic is from the recent remake. Yep, it did have a remake, but it deserved a sequel. This was, if possible, even grittier than the Dark Souls franchise, and it established its own lore. We would love to see Demon's Souls developed separately from Dark Souls, but FromSoftware are probably still focused on making more content for their Game of the Year. | © Sony

Games That Deserve A Sequel L A Noire

6. L.A. Noire (2011)

Is it obvious I'm a Rockstar fan? But, I promise this is the last one. They're just the kind of studio that doesn't overdo it, so it's no wonder they've created so many standalone masterpieces. That's exactly what L.A. Noire was. It gave you the chance to play from the detective's standpoint in 50s Los Angeles. But if there had been a sequel, we could have seen the more vibrant and even more exciting 60s. What a pity. | © Rockstar

Games That Deserve A Sequel Fable

4. Fable 1 (2005)

Yes, yes, I know that Fable 1 had a sequel, and Fable 2 was, in fact, a great game. But it felt like a Fable 3 or 4; Fable 2 jumped so far ahead in time that we never got to see what immediately followed the downfall of Jack of Blades in Fable 1. And we would have liked to see more of that "ancient" world, where heroes and magic were still common. | © Microsoft

Games That Deserve A Sequel Diddy Kong Racing

3. Diddy Kong Racing (1997)

We didn't misspell Donkey Kong. Diddy Kong Racing was a sort of rival to Mario Kart in the late 90s, but it had to be killed off to make way for the dominance of Mario Kart. But we think that was completely unfair, as Diddy Kong was better than Mario Kart 64 in many ways. It featured a wider and more variety of vehicles, it was more evenly balanced, and the level design was better. Let's get a sequel, please. | © Nintendo

Games That Deserve A Sequel Simpsons Hit Run

2. The Simpsons: Hit & Run (2003)

This was an outrageously good game, and far better than anyone could have ever expected. It's basically GTA but less violent and set in Springfield, and it's by far and away the best Simpsons game ever produced. In fact, I would think it's the best game we've ever had that was inspired by a TV show. It was huge, and it gave you limitless freedom to explore the town. It's borderline criminal that they never made a sequel, or even a remaster. | © Vivendi

Games That Deserve A Sequel Half Life 2

1. Half-Life 2 (2004)

This has literally become a meme. People have been asking for a sequel to Half-Life 2 for longer and with more passion than any other game. How could this not be number 1? It's mind-blowing that Valve haven't released the sequel yet. They would make millions of pre-orders alone, even if it was terrible. | © Valve

When you finish a fantastic game it's a strange feeling. Bittersweet. You've reached the emotional highs of the campaign, and you've overcome all obstacles, but what's left? What else can feed your appetite for this world, or for these characters?

Well, obviously, a sequel could. But for whatever reason some of the best games out there never received the sequels they deserved. We'll leave the investigation and the complaints for another article, in this gallery we just want to mourn for the games that never got their sequels. Here are the top 10 games that we feel most deserved one. Enjoy!

Note: We've included a couple of games that actually did get a sequel, but we feel they need another.
