Cameron Frye — 15. Cameron Frye
Cameron Frye spends most of Ferris Bueller's Day Off too paralyzed by anxiety to actually help with anything. Ferris drags him along, cheers him up, and basically stage manages his entire nervous breakdown while still running the whole day's schemes solo. Cameron does not sneak them into places, does not charm anyone, and definitely does not save the day. His one big contribution is putting a hole in his dad's Ferrari, which creates a problem instead of solving one. | © Paramount Pictures

Short Round — 14. Short Round
Short Round tags along for Temple of Doom mostly to yell Indy's name and get into trouble that Indy then has to fix. He can drive a truck and play cards, but past that his job seems to be reacting loudly to whatever danger just showed up. The mine cart chase gives him one decent moment, then he goes right back to needing rescue. For a kid who supposedly grew up on the streets, he sure spends a lot of time getting grabbed by cult guards. | © Paramount Pictures

Marvin — 13. Marvin
Marvin the Paranoid Android spends The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy narrating his own misery instead of actually helping anyone escape danger. He's got a brain the size of a planet and uses it mostly to sigh about how pointless everything is. Sure, the deadpan gloom is funny for a while, but as a sidekick he contributes almost nothing except mood lighting. 12. Ed
Ed the chimpanzee spends most of Ed just living in Matt LeBlanc's apartment and causing chaos that never actually helps anyone win a baseball game. He steals bases, sure, but mostly he just eats crackers and gets into slapstick trouble that pads out the runtime. The whole gimmick rests on a guy in a bad chimp suit reacting to things, and it never rises above that. Ed became a punchline almost instantly, and thirty years later it still gets brought up as proof that not every mascot deserves a movie. | © MGM

Tito oc — 11. Tito
Oliver & Company gave Tito a whole Chihuahua swagger act, complete with a Cheech Marin voice and a song about being a "Streetwise" ladies' man. None of that changes the fact that he contributes almost nothing to the actual heist plot driving the movie. He barks a lot, hypes himself up constantly, and mostly just follows Dodger around waiting for something useful to do. Artie the Orangutan — 10. Artie the Orangutan
Artie the Orangutan spends most of The Hangover Part II just sitting in the corner of a Bangkok hotel room, existing as a punchline that never actually pays off. He gets stolen, gets swapped for a monkey, and somehow still contributes less to the plot than the missing tooth or the tattoo. Alan bonds with him for about five minutes of screen time, and that bond is supposed to carry weight it never earns. Willie Scott Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 1 — 9. Willie Scott
Willie Scott spends most of Temple of Doom screaming at bugs, screaming at blood, and screaming at pretty much anything that isn't a cocktail dress. Kate Capshaw plays her as pure nightclub glamour dropped into a jungle survival story, which means she contributes nothing except noise and constant rescuing. Indiana Jones already has enough problems fighting cultists and child slavers without dragging around someone who faints at the sight of dinner. Cars — 8. Mater
Cars 2 made the baffling decision to put Mater at the center of an international spy plot instead of Lightning McQueen. His hick shtick, charming in small doses back in the first film, becomes exhausting once he is mistaken for a secret agent and carries half the runtime. The jokes rely on him misunderstanding basically everything around him, which gets old fast when the whole movie depends on it. Olaf — 7. Olaf
Olaf showed up in Frozen promising comic relief and mostly delivered filler between songs. He wanders around asking about summer, gets his body parts knocked off for laughs, and never actually helps Anna or Elsa solve anything that matters. Bob — 6. Bob
Bob spends most of Minions latching onto Kevin and Stuart without contributing much beyond cuteness and chaos. He drags along a stuffed bear, accidentally becomes king of England, and somehow still ends up as the least useful of the trio. His entire arc is built on luck rather than skill, which is funny once but wears thin over a whole movie. C 3 PO — 5. C-3PO
C-3PO spends most of Attack of the Clones being carried around, dropped into danger, and treated like set dressing with a voice box. His big contribution to the plot is stumbling into a droid factory and getting his head swapped onto a battle droid body for a bad slapstick bit. None of it connects to the actual stakes of the movie, which is a war brewing between the Republic and the Separatists. Doofy stumbles through Scary Movie as the deputy nobody trusts and nothing explains why. He shows up, gets mocked, disappears for long stretches, then reappears like the script forgot he existed. His big twist ending tries to justify his presence in one swoop, but it lands more like a shrug than a payoff. Ruby Rhod talks fast, dresses louder, and somehow contributes almost nothing to stopping the ultimate evil. Chris Tucker plays him as pure chaos energy, a radio host who screams his way through scenes without ever helping Korben Dallas solve anything. He panics, hides, and gets in the way more than he assists, yet the movie keeps pointing the camera at him anyway.
