Alice barely has time to cross the ruined streets of Washington before Resident Evil: The Final Chapter throws monsters, explosions, motorcycles, and approximately six thousand cuts at her. Milla Jovovich remains a convincing action presence, but Paul W. S. Anderson edits every encounter like he is trying to conceal the choreography from the audience. The opening misunderstanding in Home Sweet Home Alone revolves around an antique doll, an awkward open house, and adults who suspect a child of theft. Archie Yates has plenty of comic energy, but Max is written as an obstacle rather than an underdog. Bad movies usually take a while to reveal just how bad they are. These disasters didn’t bother with the suspense. Within their opening 10 minutes, the terrible dialogue, cheap effects, confused storytelling, or painfully miscast stars had already delivered the warning. Anyone who kept watching did so out of stubbornness, morbid curiosity, or misplaced hope.
