It's time to take a look at the past!
THE LEGACY OF KAIN SERIES: If you're all about vampires, you'll probably enjoy the Legacy of Kain franchise. It has one of the most well-thought-out plots (as it's really confusing but in a good way) and mixes the stories of not one but two main heroes. In each game, you'll play as either the vampire Kain or his former lieutenant Raziel (who's now a soul-sucking wraith). Defiance is the fifth and final entry into the series and in it, you can play as both. (Credit: Crystal Dynamics)
VAMPIRE THE MASQUERADE - REDEMPTION: It's the first game in the Masquerade series and a lot of people have never heard of it. We highly recommend it, even though it might be a bit outdated as it came out 21 years ago. It's an RPG with vampires and if you're a fan of at least one then you should try it out. VAMPYR: Vampyr is not a triple-A title but it's definitely coming close. The game takes place in the city of London in 1918 where you assume the role of Doctor Jonathan E. Reid who was turned into a vampire. The Spanish flu started out in the same year and it's eerily familiar with the global pandemic we're currently experiencing. (Credit: Focus Home Interactive)
CASTLEVANIA: LORDS OF SHADOW SERIES: Castlevania received a soft reboot with the Lords of Shadow series which kicked off in 2010. The sequel came four years later in 2014 and it's basically God of War in the world of Castlevania. It has a great combat system, nice aesthetics, and a decent story. (Credit: Konami)
SKYRIM: DAWNGUARD: Are you still playing Skyrim? It's no surprise since the game's content is basically endless at this point. Dawnguard is a DLC for Bethesda's hit that introduces brand-new talent trees and a whole new storyline regarding vampires and werewolves. (Credit: Bethesda Softworks)
THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT - BLOOD AND WINE: You probably didn't expect to see The Wicher 3 on this list but why not? It's all about hunting monsters and that includes vampires. Blood and Wine is one of the DLCs for The Witcher 3 and it introduces an entirely new area on the map - the Duchy of Toussaint. If France, Italy, wine, and vampires had a baby, that'd be it. VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE – BLOODLINES: Well, there you have it, you knew it'd be on the list. The first Bloodlines game changed vampire games forever. Sure, it's buggy as hell, it has a clunky combat system and a mediocre ending but it's still one of the most fun to play vampire games out there. Let's hope Bloodlines 2 remains true to the original. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 got delayed, like seriously delayed. It won't be coming in 2021 and it probably won't see the light of day in 2022 so your guess is as good as ours. In the meantime, there are still plenty of games that cover vampire lore quite well and are more than deserving of your attention.
