Maddox Jolie-Pitt wants to change his surname and get rid of his father's last name.
It might not come as a surprise to many that Maddox “Jolie-Pitt” wants to change his last name. Most of his siblings don't want to be associated with their famous father and have either legally or informally dropped his last name.
In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, and Hollywood’s dream couple became an illusion. The likely reason for the divorce was Pitt’s inappropriate behavior toward Jolie and their children. She claims that he acted physically and emotionally abusive toward his family during a private flight. During the trip, Pitt allegedly hit Maddox who was 15 at the time. Pitt denied these claims.
Maddox recently removed his father’s last name from the playbill of Jolie’s latest film, "Couture," on which he worked as an assistant director. He’s listed as "Maddox Jolie." The film tells the story of a movie director named Maxine who is diagnosed with breast cancer during Paris Fashion Week.
In 2024, Maddox worked as a production assistant on the drama Maria. For this movie, he was credited as "Maddox Jolie-Pitt."
Now, the 24-year-old wants to legally change his name to “Maddox Chivan Jolie.” TMZ reported that he has already filed documents to legally change his name. His request has not yet been granted.
Maddox is not the first of Jolie and Pitt’s children to change his name. In 2024, Vivienne (17) changed her name from “Vivienne Jolie-Pitt” to “Vivienne Jolie” in the playbill for a musical she helped her mother produce. Recently, one of their children, Zahara (21), graduated and when she walked across the stage, she was announced as "Zahara Marley Jolie." In 2024, Shiloh (20) legally changed her name as well.
