Usually, when a public figure says something controversial, someone will still defend them. However, there is nothing you can say to defend US internet personality and rapper Lil Mar for this comment. Under a picture of 12-year-old North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, he wrote, "Can she be my Celeste?" Obviously, he was alluding to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly groomed and killed by the popular singer D4VD.

Who Is “Celeste”?

Without knowing the context, the comment seems harmless. But everyone with an internet connection and even the tiniest bit of screen time knows what happened to Celeste. In September 2025, the teenager’s dead body was found in the trunk of D4VD’s Tesla. She was only 14 years old when she died but had been in an inappropriate sexual "relationship" with D4VD, who was already an adult at the time, since she was 13 years old. He was recently arrested on charges of sexually abusing and murdering a minor.

Given the background, Lil Mar’s comment cannot simply be labeled as “dark humor.” It's simply extremely inappropriate, and the internet seems to agree. Screenshots of the comment have spread online, sparking a lot of backlash. Some social media users have gone so far as to send death threats to the internet star. Other users say that North shouldn't be on social media, and her famous parents should monitor her comments more carefully.

“My Future Wife Btw”

North West is only 12 years old. This comment is not only disrespectful to Celeste but also pedophilic, especially since Lil Mar is 25 years old.

Some TikTok and Reddit users claim that Lil Mar has received backlash before for talking about North West. He publicly referred to her as his "celebrity crush for four years" and his "future wife." He also admitted to trying to contact her.

This is not the first time the controversial social media star has gotten into trouble for sexually assaulting a minor. The North West controversy brought up an older incident: Back in 2019, Lil Mar (whose legal name is Lamar Cruz) was placed in custody for assaulting an 11- to 14-year-old girl at Walmart.

There are numerous other allegations against him circulating online.

So far, Lil Mar has not issued a public apology. In an Instagram story, he threatened to sue news outlets that reported on the incident for "defamation." Perhaps a lawsuit wouldn't be necessary if Lil Mar would just think before he speaks …
