Twitch has named popular creator ExtraEmily as one of its newest Ambassadors, but the platform's decision has immediately drawn sharp criticism from fellow streamers and viewers over her history of driving-related suspensions.
The platform officially announced its latest representatives on August 11 as part of its "Ambassador Crew" program. Apparently, these creators represent the brand through community collaboration, positive change, and creator advocacy.
ExtraEmily's New Role Sparks Backlash
Her appointment quickly triggered intense pushback across social media, with multiple creators questioning whether someone with a history of dangerous driving content should serve as a brand representative.
Streamer and comedian Stephanie Cavinder criticized the decision on X, highlighting ExtraEmily's repeated incidents of broadcasting behind the wheel. Other prominent streamers—including imguby, JayViper, and Nerdy_Senpai—also voiced concern over the platform's choice.
The controversy comes roughly six weeks after ExtraEmily received her third driving-related Twitch suspension. During an IRL broadcast on June 28, she appeared to glance down at her phone while making a left turn, narrowly missing an oncoming SUV. Although no crash occurred, Twitch temporarily suspended her channel for 24 hours for violating safety guidelines.
History of Driving Controversies
ExtraEmily’s issues with distracted driving streams date back several years. She received her first ban in October 2023 after using her mobile phone while driving, later assuring viewers that she was "reformed". In April 2025, she incurred a second suspension for running a red light while live.
Following her most recent suspension, ExtraEmily announced she would reduce her driving streams and hire a dedicated driver for future IRL content.
Her real-life broadcasts have also produced other notable safety controversies. In 2024, she accidentally crashed her bicycle into an NYPD police vehicle during a livestream in New York City. In early 2025, she faced backlash after recklessly pointing a firearm toward fellow streamer Mizkif.
The backlash surrounding her ambassador role has renewed calls from prominent creators—including Asmongold and Jesse Cox—for Twitch to ban driving broadcasts entirely.
