Singer and producer Oliver Tree has passed away in a helicopter crash during his world tour.
Two helicopters collided above the city of Rio de Janeiro. Among the six victims was American musician and producer Oliver Tree. Brazil was one of the 30 countries on Tree’s world tour.
Collision Above Rio De Janeiro
On Sunday morning, a helicopter collision in the western part of the city led to a tragedy. The two helicopters collided in midair and fell onto a car dealership. One of the helicopters exploded, causing a fire and a huge black cloud to emerge from the dealership. Multiple vehicles, including electric cars by BYD, a Chinese company, started to burn. The burning batteries made firefighting operations very difficult.
The exact cause of the collision is still unknown but is under investigation. Currently, the local police believe it was due to "human error."
According to Fabio Contreiras, a fire department spokesperson, helicopter debris was scattered over hundreds of meters. Authorities hope to determine the cause of the crash by analyzing flight data recorders and video footage.
Six people died in the crash, including Oliver Tree. Among the deceased were Brazilian music producer Lucas Frota, Argentine filmmaker Lucas Vignale, and Gaspar Prim, a famous Argentine influencer. The pilots, Charles Marsillac and Alexandre Souza, also passed away. The victims were identified using a passenger list rather than an official examination of their bodies because the examination is very difficult due to the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The Unique Singer With The Bowl Cut
Oliver Tree was known for his unique style and eccentric personality. In his work, he combined comedy, art, and music. His songs, such as "Life Goes On" and "Miss You," received millions of streams on Spotify and YouTube. He attracted a following of over 15 million people on TikTok. His projects, including the album "Ugly Is Beautiful", showcase a mix of alternative rock, electronic influences, and pop sensibilities, often paired with self-directed, cinematic music videos.
He often included messages for people who feel out of place or judge themselves too harshly, saying things like, "No matter how strange you look, no matter how ugly you feel, you are beautiful. Life is sweet, like pineapple pizza."
A few days before the crash, Tree performed in São Paulo and expressed his admiration for the country on Instagram. He visited a favela and wore a Brazilian soccer jersey. Fans express their sorrow in the comments section of the post, wishing him rest in peace. We also express our condolences and wish the family much strength in this hard time.
