Logan Paul is rarely the first person who comes to mind when you think of moral role models. In a discussion with Christian influencer Bryce Crawford, however, the YouTuber and WWE star firmly pushes back against the idea that homosexuality is a choice.

On his podcast Impaulsive, Paul talks to Crawford about faith and sexual orientation. When his guest claims that being gay is a choice, Paul challenges him. His argument: He never consciously chose to be attracted to women either.

Logan Paul Asks The Crucial Question

Paul essentially explains that he believes he was born attracted to women. Why should it be any different for gay people? To him, the claim that they chose their sexual orientation makes no sense.

He makes his point particularly clear when discussing discrimination, asking why anyone would voluntarily choose a life in which social prejudice exposes them to exclusion and additional hardships. Paul points to judgment, ridicule and rejection, including from religious people.

In doing so, he raises an important point: When gay people struggle with their circumstances, that does not mean their sexual orientation is the problem. The way people around them treat them can also make their lives difficult.

Being Gay Is Not Something People Need To Overcome

Paul also challenges Crawford's suggestion that people "struggle" with homosexuality. He counters that many people embrace their sexuality confidently and are proud of who they are.

His guest's wording, however, presents homosexuality as something inherently tied to inner conflict. Paul refuses to let that framing go unchallenged. On a platform with such a large audience, that pushback matters.

Getting One Thing Right Does Not Make Him A Role Model

Still, it would be too easy to suddenly declare Paul a moral role model because of this conversation. He has made mistakes when discussing sexual orientation himself: In 2019, he jokingly announced that he wanted to be gay for a month. Following criticism, he acknowledged his poor choice of words.

That makes his current stance inconsistent with his past remarks, but it does not make his argument any less valid. You can view Logan Paul critically and still agree with him in this discussion. Having legitimate reasons to criticize someone does not mean you have to reject everything they say.

This conversation alone is not enough to tell whether it reflects lasting personal growth. In this moment, however, his moral compass seems to be pointing in the right direction: He challenges a demeaning idea and argues that gay people deserve to be respected as an ordinary part of society.
