Japanese actor Nijiro Murakami is best known for his role in the Netflix series “Alice in Borderland.” He captivated audiences worldwide as the intelligent survivalist “Chishiya.” Recently, however, serious allegations of domestic violence and physical abuse have been leveled against the 29-year-old.

Severe Allegations Against Actor Nijiro Murakami

The allegations came to light after the Japanese sports magazine “Nikkan Sports” published an article about the investigation of the issue.

On June 26, it was announced that charges had been filed in connection with an incident that took place between March and May 2024 at Murakami’s apartment in Shibuya. The prosecution accuses the 29-year-old of physically abusing his then-partner a total of four times.

The assaults injured the woman so severely that she required hospital treatment for over a month. The injuries were caused by repeated punches from Murakami. The investigation files describe how he also repeatedly pulled her hair and even slammed her head against a window. The victim reported the incidents to the police earlier this year.

“There Is No Doubt That I Injured Her.”

The allegations gained even more attention after Murakami spoke during a voluntary interview with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. He said there was no doubt that he had injured the woman. To many, this sounds like a clear confession.

The actor’s agency released a statement announcing that Murakami “had difficulties with a woman he used to date.” His actions to stop the woman’s “problematic behavior” were, they said, "excessive".

Murakami himself spoke out on Instagram:

“I would like to express my sincerest apologies for the considerable concern and inconvenience I have caused to everyone involved and to all of my fans and supporters. For the sake of those who have always stood by me, I will address the circumstances surrounding this matter in my own words in the near future.”

However, a comment under the post clearly points out that Murakami must first apologize to the victim and take responsibility through his actions, not his words.
