IO Interactive shows gameplay from its upcoming James Bond action adventure coming 2026.

IO Interactive shows us 30 minutes of gameplay from their new title 007 First Light, which will be released on March 27, 2026. We get a glimpse of James' first mission and find out what makes the game so special.
007 First Light is not based on one of the James Bond films, but on its own unique story, in which the young James must prove himself in order to earn the right to call himself 007.
A Cinematic Start
At the beginning of the gameplay reveal, we see sequences that introduce us to the story, almost like a trailer for a James Bond movie. The actual gameplay then begins with a picturesque drive through the mountains, which eventually ends at a secluded, heavily guarded luxury hotel.
Using a pseudonym, James gains access to the property and first takes up his planned position in the parking lot, followed by another cutscene.

The First Mission
As James, you observe suspicious activity when a hotel employee throws a suitcase over a wall and want to get to the bottom of it. Despite strict instructions, you leave your post and try to gain access to the guarded hotel building as unnoticed as possible. Various distractions, such as setting fires or turning on a water hose, help you moving forward.
Once you have sneaked past the guards, you can shimmy along walls and climb up the building facade, which is somewhat reminding us of Uncharted.
A Bond-Style Chase
The next mission turns out to be a fast-paced chase that allows you to drive across meadows, stairs, and through railings and fences. Of course, drifting and squealing tires are also part of the fun. It is possible to use shortcuts to catch up with the car in front of you. Obstacles on the road sometimes even force you to leave it and take a different route.
Using a ramp also shows how epic jumps are depicted cinematically from a more distant perspective.
Action-Packed Battles
The next section of the gameplay reveal shows some action-packed scenes in which James has to fight his way across an airfield with a pistol. You can use the environment to your advantage, for example by blowing up barrels or cars, triggering some big explosions.
In close combat, you also see interesting fighting techniques and stunts that incorporate the environment, such as sliding across a car hood.
This section of the mission also ends with a short cutscene in which you try to catch up with the plane as it takes off.
A Movie-Like Game
Especially remarkable is the way in which game and movie sequences go hand in hand and merge almost seamlessly into one another. Added to this is a well-captured Bond atmosphere reminiscent of the cult films, accompanying both action-packed and quiet operations.
As James, you can proceed in either stealth mode or confrontation mode to complete your missions. Using your surroundings also seems to be an important element of the gameplay, whether it's using objects while fighting or eavesdropping on conversations to get one step closer to your goal.
Cast
In addition to Patrick Gibson, there are other familiar faces to be seen. Here is a list of the cast featured in the game:
- Patrick Gibson as James Bond
- Lennie James as Greenway
- Priyanga Burford as M
- Alastair McKenzie as Q
- Kiera Lester as Moneypenny
- Noémie Nakai as Ms. Roth
Sounds promising, doesn't it?
