Receiving an advance copy of a major sports title is one of the premier perks of being featured in the game. However, Chelsea and England midfielder Cole Palmer discovered that early access comes with strict boundaries. Palmer received a temporary suspension on Twitch after broadcasting EA Sports FC 27 ahead of Electronic Arts' official embargo.
According to reports, Palmer went live for over an hour on September 15, opening Ultimate Team packs and playing matches before an audience of thousands. Because EA had scheduled its own official presentation for later that evening, an EA Sports representative eventually joined Palmer's live chat to remind him of the agreed broadcast window.
Embargo Breach Triggers Account Suspension
While Palmer held access to the full build, publishing gameplay ahead of the global showcase violated the publisher's broadcast schedule. Shortly after the stream was halted, his Twitch channel was taken offline and replaced with a standard suspension notice.
Palmer addressed the ban on Instagram, joking, "I was only giving the people what they wanted," before adding a straightforward follow-up: "unban me pls." While Twitch rarely details specific partner enforcement actions publicly, the suspension was directly tied to the unapproved early gameplay broadcast.
Furious at Downgraded EA FC Rating
The embargo breach was not Palmer's only issue during the broadcast. Before his channel went dark, the Chelsea star openly criticized EA Sports after discovering his overall rating dropped from 87 to 85. Palmer pointed to an injury-plagued previous campaign as the likely reason for the stat reduction, remarking that he had essentially played on "one leg" for much of the season.
Fortunately for the midfielder, the suspension proved short-lived. TechRadar reported that his Twitch channel has already been reinstated. With EA Sports FC 27 scheduled for early access on September 18 ahead of its worldwide launch on September 25, Palmer's streaming privileges are back intact, even if his 85 rating remains unchanged.
