How can one be both eerily charming and somewhat spooky simultaneously? Is the key simply perfecting the art of a steady gaze, or must you tap into your inner Jenna Ortega? Whatever her magic formula, she embodies Wednesday Addams flawlessly, and we’re lucky because she's returning for season 2. We’ve gathered all the exciting details for you – with every piece of news you’re eager to hear!

For all of Netflix's faults, they did a lot of things right with Wednesday – and it showed. The adventures of odd Wednesday Addams, played by the wonderful Jenna Ortega, have been a smashing hit for the streaming platform. And even better, the iconic Addams Family got a whole new audience by proximity.
It's no surprise that fans are eagerly anticipating the second season, so here's everything we know about the release date, cast, plot, and more.

Fueled by its dark, morbid humor and the stellar performances by Jenna Ortega and her co-stars, Netflix's Wednesday became an internet sensation. Remember when that dance was everywhere? I sure do. Now, let's explore the latest developments in the world of Wednesday!
This Is What We Know About Wednesday Season 2 Based On The Teasers
On January 30, 2025, Netflix finally dropped a first mini-teaser for Wednesday’s second season. And one thing is immediately clear: The darkness continues.
We see Jenna Ortega as Wednesday standing in front of the gates of Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. There, she comes face to face with a familiar figure: Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), who was exposed as the Hyde monster at the end of Season 1. And let’s just say his situation hasn’t exactly improved – he’s chained to a heavy iron door. Sounds like a fun little reunion, doesn’t it?
But that was just the beginning. Netflix has now released a full teaser trailer – and it paints an even darker picture. We see Wednesday gagged and tied to a chair in a crumbling, doll-filled room. She lifts a knife and coolly says, "Let's play dolls." Later, she returns to Nevermore Academy and hands her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) a doll that looks suspiciously like her, complete with a wig made of real human hair. The teaser closes with the brief flash of a masked figure – wearing a doll-like mask – hinting at a sinister new enemy lurking in the shadows.
The doll motif runs throughout the teaser, signaling the next big threat Wednesday must face. After taking down Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) and the Hyde in Season 1, it’s clear her troubles are far from over. The mysterious presence that began stalking her at the end of last season seems ready to strike – and it’s bringing some unsettling toys along for the ride.
If you want even more, there's a behind-the-scenes look at Season 2 here.
The trailer released on July 9, 2025, reveals darker twists ahead. Wednesday hasterrifying visions of Enid’s possible death, setting her on a mission to save her friend. Now a reluctant celebrity at school, and dubbed the “Saviour of Nevermore”, Wednesday is swarmed by fan followers – one being the mysterious Agnes DeMille, a new student with red pigtails.
Wednesday Season 2: Release Date
Although Wednesday loves torturing people, Netflix doesn’t want viewers to suffer for too long: Wednesday has been officially renewed for a second season – and now we finally know when it’s coming.

Season 2 will hit Netflix in two parts, with the first batch of episodes dropping on August 6, 2025, and the second following on September 3, 2025.

One notable change behind the scenes: production had to relocate shooting from Romania to Ireland, likely due to logistical challenges. Whether that move will noticeably affect the look and feel of the show remains to be seen – but with Wednesday, expect the unexpected.
Wednesday Season 2: Confirmed Cast
For the cast of the next season of Wednesday, we already know that Jenna Ortega will return as the titular character. Duh. We're all thankful, but: huge duh! What about the rest?
Catherine Zeta Jones has also confirmed her return as Wednesday's mother, Morticia Addams, and might finally get a little more screen time. We would really love to see the mother-daughter-dynamic play out a little more in season 2.
Besides those two, we expect the following cast members to make their return:

One name you might miss on this list is Percy Hynes White as one of Wednesday's potential love interests, Xavier Thorpe. The thing is, Percy was accused of sexual assault, and so he's been written out of the show for season 2. Although the allegations have neither been proven nor debunked, it looks like the showrunners simply didn't want to associate with the actor any longer. Definitely the safest decision.
What Can We Expect From Wednesday Season 2?
Regarding the direction for season 2, in an Actors on Actors video produced by Variety, Jenna Ortega revealed their plans to focus on the horror elements of the show and “ditch any romantic love interest for Wednesday”.
We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.
The focus of the show is going to stay on Wednesday, though other characters from her special family will make appearances on the show. Especially, her relationship with her mother Morticia is described by creator Miles Millar as essential to the show.

These changes are likely to be well-received by much of the fan base. Additionally, they need to resolve the cliffhanger from the first season. For instance, who is the enigmatic figure following Wednesday, and what are his intentions? Many mysteries remain to be solved, without a doubt.
