Tom Scott has been gone from YouTube for over 2 years – until now.
Tom Scott has been gone from his YouTube channel for over two years now. Recently he made an announcement on Instagram, teasing his return.
Tom's Disappearance
Tom is a 42-year-old YouTuber who started YouTube in 2004. His channel now has 6.63 million subscribers. He began uploading videos with a series called "Things You Might Not Know". His videos are characterized by their short length (around 5 minutes) and conciseness. He usually recites a script in unusual, sometimes outlandish places and situations like inside a centrifuge or in zero gravity during a parabolic flight. He uploaded a video every week, without fail for ten years.
Many may know him from the memes: "Hello, I'm in...".
On January 1, 2024, he uploaded his last YouTube Video for now, saying goodbye to his fans. He said he wanted to take a break from YouTube because he was tired and only had work in his life at the time. He wanted to spend time outside of work with the people dear to him. Also, he didn't want to keep climbing higher and higher and become a manager, but do less and be happier. Moreover, his goal was ten years on YouTube anyways, wich he had reached by then. He assured his followers that he would come back, but he wanted to move on.
His fans were sad to see him go, but understood his decision, wished him well and thanked him for the last ten years.
Although he was never completely gone – his podcast lateral still aired regularly and he could also be seen on Technical Difficulties., only his own channel stayed silent.
His Comeback
After his now two-year break, Tom Scott posted an announcement on Instagram: He will be back with a new video-series filmed in the UK. It will be published on Nebula, but each episode will be posted to his YouTube channel one week later. The first episode will air on March 23 on Nebula.
The teaser shows a similar vibe to Scott's earlier work and promises exciting new adventures.
His fans are delighted for the YouTuber's return and can't wait for the first episode to drop. We can look forward to a new era of Tom Scott.
