After yesterday's catastrophic news that Battlefield 2042 was officially delayed, fans were hoping that was the last of the bad news. But the situation around Battlefield 2042 has continued to worsen, unfortunately. The beta has now been delayed too. It's a funny thing. In the run-up to the three big releases for shooter fans this fall - Halo, Battlefield, and Call of Duty - almost everyone felt Battlefield was the clear favorite. Millions of fans began flying the Battlefield flag, many of them out of a hatred for Call of Duty rather than a genuine excitement for Battlefield 2042.

The trailers came and Battlefield 2042 continued to look promising. Fans began more confidently suggesting that Vanguard would fail this year and that Battlefield was going to blow us out of the water. Back in April, the DICE team had given this impression by saying they were not just on schedule but ahead of it.

But then, in the eleventh hour - disaster struck! What began as worrying rumors of internal delays has now been officially confirmed, and the release of the game, as well as the beta, have been delayed.

When Has The Battlefield Beta Been Delayed Until?

The Battlefield 2042 Beta has been delayed until October 6 for Early Access and October 8 for everyone else. The news comes straight from our favorite source, trusted insider Tom Henderson:

It's incredibly cheeky of them to still ask for pre-orders to get early access to the beta after continued disasters in the development of this title. But then this is EA, so we should have expected it. The worst part of these delays is that it gives Vanguard the crucial headstart that Battlefield thought it would have. More worryingly still - the new Warzone Pacific map will be out at that point.

What About The Full Release Of Battlefield 2042?

Battlefield 2042 will be released in full on November 19, as the developers themselves have now officially announced. Needless to say, this bodes poorly for EA, who will now have to really fight to win people back from Vanguard and the new Pacific Warzone Map.

What Could The Problems Behind Battlefield 2042 Be?

During the alpha play testing it was clear that the game was not running as well as many users hoped, and that the specialist system, in particular, needed changes before release. We have a full rundown on the new specialist system and why people hate it right here. The technical issues are also concerning, but we could give them the benefit of the doubt that it's merely an older build (not the first time we've heard that excuse, though).
