Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is coming to an end with the mid-season update this week. It’s time to take a look at what we already know about Season 2.

Season 1 is currently in full swing. Just recently, the new fully automatic Streetsweeper Shotgun was added, and this week, we will get the Mid-Season Update with a lot of new content. Even though nothing has been officially announced about Season 2, there are already some leaks and hints about what we can expect in the next season.

What will Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Bring to the Table?

Season 2 will most likely go live at the end of February, on February 24. At least, that’s the date that the Season 1 Battle Pass expires. However, it could well be that Season 1 will be extended in order to make final adjustments – after all, the start of Season 1 was postponed by just under a week. We’ll probably get the reveal trailer a week before that.

New Maps

According to some leaks, most of which are no longer accessible, at least three new multiplayer maps are supposed to come with Season 2. Among them are the well-known and popular maps Summit and Firing Range. Both maps are Black Ops classics and after the return of well-known old maps like Nuketown and Raid, the return of these two maps wouldn’t surprise us. The third map is rumored to be called Apocalypse – nothing more is known about it yet.

Popular Scorestreak Returns

As seen in the above tweet, dogs seem to return as a Scorestreak. For those of you new to the game: The Scorestreak Attack Dogs sends dogs across the map to take out any player who doesn’t shoot them fast enough. The Scorestreak is extremely powerful, as even if it doesn’t kill enemies, it forces them to give themselves away, or flee. We’re definitely looking forward to the return of these Demonic Woofers!

New Weapons

Of course, new weapons can’t be missing in Season 2. According to some leaks, this time there will be a new sniper and an LMG. After getting an assault rifle and an MP with the Groza and the MAC 10 in Season 1, it wouldn’t surprise us to see an LMG and a Sniper. Especially since these are the only two primary weapon classes that currently only include three weapons each.

If leaker TheMW2Ghoxt is to be believed, the Sniper is the Dragunov, which we also already know from Modern Warfare as a rapid-fire, semi-automatic sniper rifle.

New Finishing Moves

Finally, two new finishing moves have been leaked, which will probably be available as part of various bundles in the store.

As it is with leaks, you must never forget that none of this has been officially confirmed. Even though most of the leaks look very credible, neither Activison nor Treyarch have released anything about Season 2 yet.
