Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard is the name of the 2021 Call of Duty. We knew that already. What we didn't know until now is that CoD Vanguard might not be released in 2021. Leakers claim that Call of Duty might skip a year. Let's look into it...

So according to leaker TheMW2Ghost, Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard will not be released this year! Activision seems to plan to take a year of and, honestly, it confirms what we heard in the past from leaker TomHenderson:

Why Will Call of Duty Vanguard Not Release in 2021?

Apparently Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard is riddled with issues. It seems that the many, many issues with Black Ops Cold War and Warzone are taking a toll on developers, who, thanks to the virus are stuck working from home. More than that, it was previously rumored that CoD Vanguard would be extremely held back by the last-gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One – something we reported on here:

It seems that Activision is now deciding to pull the plug on CoD Vanguard and release the game when it's ready and fully polished. We'd also assume that they might want it to be a next-gen only release and are waiting for more people to get their hands on a PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Activision has yet to confirm any of this, but it all makes too much sense to us: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War are riddled with bugs, yet still going strong for Activision. They deserve proper polish and care before releasing a new Call of Duty. Add to that the fact that not many people have a next-gen system and that Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a behemoth of a game, and it might just be a smart move to sit this year out.

If Call of Duty WW2 Vanguard releases in 2022 as a fully fleshed out and polished experience, it will certainly do no harm to the series and people will respect Activision for caring about their product rather than rushing.

Will Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster Release Instead of CoD 2021?

It is quite possible that the Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster will be released instead of the new Call of Duty 2021. Activision could shelve the apparently unfinished Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard, and release the long-awaited Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster instead. We would certainly welcome that. Give the studios enough time to make a new CoD that is actually... good. We are look at you, Black Ops Cold War!

What do you think? Should Activision jump off their annual freight train, and like with Battlefield, give the developers enough time to make something good? Could we see CoD 2021 in 2022, and if so, could that mean two Call of Duty games in 2022?
