Spawn Delay has been removed from Call of Duty: Vanguard, fixing the flow of the multiplayer experience. What was the problem with Spawn Delay in Vanguard? Let's dive in.
Playing Call of Duty: Vanguard's beta, you can't help but feel disconnected from the gameplay experience whenever you're killed. It might not seem like such a big deal, but the few second Spawn Delay ruins the game's flow. After all, there's nothing fun about sitting and watching other players run around the map, and there's nothing fun about waiting.
You can probably anticipate what we're about to say: Spawn Delay's removal from Vanguard is a stroke of genius. Honestly, it's one of the best changes to come to Vanguard's beta since it dropped for PlayStation players last week.

Is Spawn Delay in Call of Duty: Vanguard?
Spawn Delay has been removed from Call of Duty: Vanguard in a recent Beta Update. This particular feature created major contention between players of the Vanguard Beta, with some claiming that it broke the flow of the gameplay. As contentious as the issue may have been, Sledgehammer Games' removal of the feature will have significant implications for the shooter. Why? Well, you better keep reading.
What Does Spawn Delay's Removal Do For Vanguard?
Removing Spawn Delay from Call of Duty: Vanguard greatly decreases the time between death and respawn. Now that you can respawn almost instantaneously after death, many are claiming that Vanguard's multiplayer pacing problems have been fixed. We have been playing the beta, and we are inclined to agree. Charlie Intel's tweet hit the nail on its head...
No longer having the Spawn Delay in Vanguard MP has helped the flow of the game so far.— CharlieIntel (@charlieINTEL) September 19, 2021
Playing the beta this last week has been a bit of a rough experience in a lot of ways. That's to be expected from a beta, but the level of graphical problems, bugs, glitches, and bizarre gameplay choices do concern us. That being said, Call of Duty: Vanguard is still worlds above Black Ops Cold War, and the decision to remove Spawn Delay has benefitted the game greatly.
The brief wait between being eliminated and respawning might seem insignificant, but it translates to a lot in-game. We found ourselves quickly checking our phones in the break, yawning, and wondering what snacks we could find in the cupboard. It caused a disconnect between us and the game, and this dissonance between the player and the game was a big problem.
Thus, by removing Spawn Delay from Call of Duty: Vanguard, Sledgehammer Games have ticked another major change off their bucket list. The beta has proven to us that Vanguard is shaping up to be one of the best Call of Duty games of the last few years. We have to admit that we had our reservations at first, but seeing Sledgehammer Game's devotion to building, improving, and adjusting the game, gives us hope for a top-quality release on November 5. Let's wait and see.
