Modern Warfare 2 came with a bunch of new weapons that are all available in Warzone 2 as well, and because the new Gunsmith works the way it does, you basically have to level every single one of them. But you probably don't have the time or don't own Modern Warfare 2, which makes leveling guns way more difficult. But don't worry, we are here to keep you up to date about the current meta weapons so that you can focus on the most important ones.

Since Warzone 2.0 plays significantly slower and recoil for all weapons is way stronger, it is no longer possible to just laser enemies like in Warzone 1. Assault rifles can no longer kill at absurd distances with ease like they used to, and that means that the best weapons in Warzone 2.0 can come from slightly different categories. In any case, the typical assault rifle/SMG combo is no longer necessarily the standard in Warzone 2.

Warzone 2 Season 3 Meta: Overview

In the following, you will find the current Warzone 2.0 meta for short and long distances:

  • Best AR: TAQ-56
  • Best SMG: Lachmann Sub (MP5)
  • Best Sniper: FJX IMPERIUM
  • Best Sniper Support: CHIMERA

When it comes to equipment and perks, we advise the following combination:

Warzone 2 Season 3 Meta Assault Rifle: TAQ-56

We have the meta setup and loadout for the TAQ-56, also known as the SCAR, in Warzone 2. This assault rifle is highly effective in Warzone 2 due to its low-recoil and strong damage over long distances. With its low-recoil and impressive damage output, particularly with upper-torso shots, the TAQ-56 is a great weapon that can be used in both 6v6 multiplayer and Warzone 2. Additionally, it's not too sluggish at long range, making it a great all-around rifle.

We've put together the best loadout for the TAQ-56, which includes attachments and tuning:

MuzzleSakin-Tread 40Recoil Stabilization (+0.65 oz) / Gun Kick Control (+0.30 in)

Magazine60 Round MagsDefault
UnderbarrelFTAC Ripper 56Recoil Stabilization (+0.80 oz) / Aiming Idle Stability (+0.40 in)

To enhance range, bullet velocity, and recoil reduction, particularly vertical recoil, we suggest utilizing the Sakin-Tread attachment. Our muzzle, barrel, and ammo attachments are all geared towards enhancing these attributes, with efficient tradeoffs in mind.

If you prefer to use an optic, we recommend removing the underbarrel attachment as a first step.

Warzone 2 Season 3 Meta SMG: Lachmann Sub

Of course, we also need a weapon for the short distances on the small Ashika Island map.

So we highly recommend the Lachmann Sub or MP5 as the most comfortable SMG in Warzone 2, and it's suitable for players of all skill levels. It's not just because of its low-recoil, but also due to its competitive time-to-kill (TTK). The Lachmann Sub has excellent mobility, handling, and recoil control, making it a great weapon.

Below, you can find the best Lachmann Sub loadout for Warzone 2.

StockFT Mobile StockAim Down Sight Speed (-3.90 oz) / Aim Walking Speed (-2.40 in)

Our goal with this loadout is to prioritize handling speed and mobility. However, we've included a 40-round mag for higher TTKs in Warzone and a muzzle brake to provide additional recoil control while maintaining efficiency.

You may be questioning our decision not to use the no-stock attachment. While it does increase mobility, the recoil penalty is often too great for most players, even on SMGs. Therefore, we've opted for a stock that still improves handling speed while sacrificing less recoil control.

Warzone 2 Season 3 Meta Sniper: FJX Imperium

A category that is finally worth writing about again. Since Season 3 has introduced the One-Shot-Sniper once again, there is some variety in terms of weapon's choice!

So we highly recommend the FJX Imperium as the best sniper in Warzone 2. But watch out, you definitely need to add the “explosive ammunition” if you want to kill your enemy with one bullet.

  • If you want to have better aim while sniping, a controller with additional features might be the right choice. Maybe give the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller a try!

Ammunition.408 ExplosiveDamage Range (+0.70 g) / Bullet Velocity (+9.00 gr)
Carry HandleField-Wrapped HandleAim Walking Steadiness (+1.20 oz) / Aiming Idle Stability (+0.55 in)

Our top choice for a build right now includes the necessary ammunition for one-shot downs, but it comes at the cost of significantly reduced bullet velocity. To make up for this, we've opted for a heavier barrel. Additionally, we've added a carry handle and a laser attachment to improve aim-down-sight speed.

While we prefer the default optic, you may prefer something else. If that's the case, we suggest removing the rear grip or laser attachment first.

Warzone 2 Season 3 Meta Sniper Support: Chimera

Last but not least, a Sniper definitely needs a good partner. Thanks to a buff in Season 2, the Chimera now offers a competitive time-to-kill (TTK) in close-range battles, even when compared to popular SMGs like the Lachmann Sub and Vaznev.

In fact, the Chimera outperforms every other weapon in the game in terms of TTK between 13 and 26 meters.

Below, you can find the best Chimera-Sniper-Support loadout for Warzone 2.

Rear GripD37 GripRecoil Steadiness (+1.00 oz) / Sprint To Fire Speed (-0.45 in)
Magazine45 Round MagDefault

Our focus with the Chimera build is on close to mid-range fights, so aiming stability isn't a priority as we don't expect to use it beyond 30 meters. However, since it's not an SMG, we can't afford to sacrifice all recoil control and aiming stability for speed. Instead, we need to strike a balance between these factors to create a well-rounded weapon.

We recommend using a larger magazine capacity as 30 rounds might not be sufficient in Warzone. The optic is a matter of personal preference, and you could choose to use the ironsights instead and add another attachment. However, we prefer using a red dot sight.

As soon as new balance patches change the current meta, we will of course update this article for you. Until then, have fun grinding!
