CS:GO’s new anti-cheating system Trusted mode has failed miserably at launch, causing players endless failed attempt to play the game they love. Let’s get to it then!
Trusted Mode… More Like Busted Mode, Am I Rite?
The jokes are already flooding the internet, but Trusted mode’s failure is far from a joke. It’s just another proof that nearly every attempt at stopping hackers results in more damage to normal users than to actual hackers.
Trusted mode’s intended purposes are to identify malicious files that might interact with the game’s engine. In simple terms – it should fight off hacks. What it’s doing instead is what one might expect from a software burdened with recognizing foreign files.
I hinted at that possibility yesterday, yet tried to keep hope alive based on the presumed tested condition in which Trusted mode was being forced upon users and Valve’s genuine attempts to improve the game with Valorant’s shadow looming.
As it often happens, my positive approach was quickly shattered to pieces. Trusted mode is regularly striking files and programs that are obviously not malicious, such as Discord for example. Which I’m using at this very moment. Can you guess which game I’m not playing at the same time?

There are also side issues that are making the process of getting into and playing the game all the more tedious. Trusted mode often does not identify which files are causing problems and it apparently causes some to lose a significant amount of FPS, which is always nice, especially in an online precise shooter.
In Valve’s defense, they reacted quickly with a patch addressing the performance issues.

Now if they can also get Trusted mode to detect the correct type of files and not mess with people’s bloody Discord, that would e great. I’m not crossing my fingers this time around, though I would be more than happy to write a reverse positive piece a week from now on good boy Valve.
