The newly formed mudgolems have shown some great results in ESL One Germany as the team one of the currently five that made it to the playoffs.

Dota 2’s ESL One Germany will come to an end on November 1. The event’s group stage will conclude tomorrow and decide another three teams that’ll earn a spot in the playoffs. A total of eight will enter the next stage and five are already clear:

  • Team Secret
  • Alliance
  • OG
  • Team Liquid
  • mudgolems

Thanks to the tournament’s modified Swiss system, each team plays until reaching 3 wins or 3 losses. Alliance and Secret are the only ones that finished with a score of 3-0, not losing a single series. Out of the five teams that already qualified in the playoffs we see four major orgs and mudgolems.

Who Are Mudgolems?

The team was created by former players from various other orgs and includes:

  • Oliver "skiter" Lepko
  • Duško "BoraNija" Boranijaševic
  • Neta "33" Shapira
  • Milan "MiLAN" Kozomara
  • Adrian "Fata" Trinks

In their run through ESL One Germany, the squad managed to take out Natus Vincere, Team Nigma and Cyber Legacy. Their only loss was to Team Liquid. Things won’t get easier in the playoffs and only time will tell if mudgolems will survive until the end. So far they’ve demonstrated some high-class Dota 2 and we hope to see more of them.

The Group Stage Ends Tomorrow

Three more teams will earn a spot in the playoffs and it’s quite hard to tell who’ll make it. The six remaining teams will be halved and only three more will make it into the playoffs. Tomorrow you can expect the following series (a live stream will be available on the official ESL Twitch channel):

  • 5men vs. Team Nigma14:00 CEST
  • Natus Vincere vs. Yellow Submarine17:00 CEST
  • Vikin.gg vs. Ninjas in Pyjamas – 20:00 CEST

All six teams are currently with a score of 2 wins and 2 losses. Whoever wins gets into the playoffs and whoever loses gets eliminated. Each of the series seems like a 50/50. Nigma are still playing without their captain and have already lost to various underdogs. A defeat to 5men won’t be too surprising. Na’Vi are definitely the favorite but Yellow Submarine managed to beat Nigma and NiP so expect some twists. Vikin.gg or NiP? It could go either way as the two teams have only managed to beat underdogs. Vikin.gg gave OG a run for their money but still lost 0-2. NiP took a game off Alliance but lost to Yellow Submarine.

ESL One Germany is probably the most chaotic Dota 2 event in terms of favorites. The only certain teams in the tournament so far proved to be Team Secret and Alliance. Going into the playoffs nothing will be certain. Who's your favorite to take the event? Team Secret? Tell us on our Facebook page!
