Gaming paradise — Gaming Paradise

There's a slight chance you missed this gem of an event if you weren't following the scene back in 2015. The Gaming Paradise Dota 2 event which was supposed to happen in Portorož, Slovenia, was canceled altogether and we're sure everyone was grateful for that.

Right before it, Gaming Paradise held a CS:GO tournament and it was a total disaster. Payments for accommodation were missing which led to players getting questioned by the police. (Image credit: The Gaming Resorts)

Nanyang dota 2 cruise ship — The NanYang Dota 2 Championships Cruise Cup

Playing a regular LAN was too mainstream for the organizers of The NanYang Dota 2 Cruise Ship. The Dota 2 event took place on the Sapphire Princess Cruise Ship. The organizers were reportedly renting a satellite in order to guarantee a good internet connection. Sadly, the event's biggest problem wasn't the internet but lack of a proper schedule, leading to a lot of tension. (Image credit: KeyTV)

Major all stars dota 2 — Major All Stars

The event took place in 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and it was supposed to be the biggest one in the SEA region. Power surges and outages happened in the first game of the tournament and hygiene in the rooms was poor. To put the cherry on top, the winners of the event, Invictus Gaming, received their prize a whopping two years later! (Image credit: Fallout Gaming)

World cyber arena dota 2 — World Cyber Arena (2015)

The World Cyber Arena was held in December 2015 and the weather was cold in Yinchuan, China. Thankfully, the venue was just an hour away from the hotels and the buses didn't have any heating!

Things didn't get better once the tournament started, as it featured bad conditions for the players and fans along with awful planning. Small tables and plastic chairs were part of the interior and there wasn't enough space for players which led to people falling asleep on the ground. (Image credit: YIGI)

Shanghai major dota 2 — The Shanghai Major

The Shanghai Major was held back in 2016 in the city of the same name in China. To this day, it's one of the most memorable events in Dota 2 history. It featured some of the best teams from around the world but the tournament was plagued by poor conditions, production issues, and much more.

James "2GD" Harding and the production team were fired and that was just the highlight. The welcoming ceremony was canceled due to poor scheduling and equipment was lost during the event so the police were brought in to investigate after it concluded. (Image credit: Perfect World)

Dota 2 events in the last few years are usually of top-notch quality but that wasn't always the case. Today, we'll be taking a look at some of the worst Dota 2 tournaments in the past decade. Note that all of them except one happened in 2015. That certainly wasn't a good year to be a Dota 2 fan.
