Here are some big names in esports: Swedish production company DreamHack and German sports channel SPORT1. So, what are they up to? It seems that in 2020, they will have more in store for us Dota 2 fans.

The partnership continues

This won’t be the first time DreamHack and SPORT1 have joined efforts. Previously, they worked together during various esports events like DreamHack Masters Dallas and Malmö. We also saw them collaborate for Rocket League Pro Circuit events in Dallas, Montreal and Valencia.

The Dota 2 events

DreamHack and SPORT1 have signed an extension to their already existing deal to broadcast two upcoming Dota 2 events. The first one is DreamLeague Season 13, also known as The Leipzig Major. It is set to take place between January 24-26 in the German city of the same name. This will be the second Major in the 2019-2020 Dota 2 competitive season and the first big tournament for 2020.

Next, we have the DreamLeague Season 14. The details for this one are not yet announced but should become clear in the months to follow.

Both events are part of Valve’s official Dota Pro Circuit and will offer $1,000,000 in prize money along with points. The winners will be a step closer to qualifying for the most prestigious event for the year – The Dota 2 International. In 2020, The International celebrates its tenth anniversary, so expect something truly special! Also, for the first time ever, it’ll take place in Sweden, Europe. It seems that the partnership with Swedish DreamHack is no coincidence.

Co-CEO of DreamHack Marcus Lindmark commented on the deal:

Were proud that SPORT1 has chosen to continue working with DreamHack and to broadcast our content to their many viewers in 2020. The broadcast of DreamLeague Season 13, the first Dota 2 DPC Major of 2020, on eSPORTS1 will make it accessible for all German Dota 2 fans that cant attend the event and help further increase the hype around the tournament.

Board member of SPORT1 GmbH Daniel von Busse added:

We have been working with DreamHack this year and continue our successful partnership in 2020 with DreamHack on board as an experienced content partner at eSPORTS1. The Dota 2 Major in Leipzig will be a highlight with a prize pool of one million dollars starting on Friday, January 24th a special date as our esports channel eSPORTS1 celebrates its first anniversary on this day. In addition, we were also able to extend our media partnership with DreamHack Leipzig and will again report on one of the largest national gaming festivals in 2020.

As it becomes evident from the statement, SPORT1 won’t be simply broadcasting the events. Instead, it will serve as a media partner of DreamHack Leipzig for the third consecutive year. With so much experience under the belt, we’re set for an interesting 2020.

Who do you think will be the rising stars at The International?
