Pixar Finally Made the Only Movie We Ever Wanted From Them

Buzz Lightyear finally gets his own movie. No, not the toy. The actual astronaut Buzz Lightyear is getting the Pixar treatment, and we're here for it.

My childhood just... got better, somehow. That doesn't make sense, but everything little me wanted, old me just got. And by everything, I mean a Buzz Lightyear movie. And by Buzz Lightyear movie, I mean an actual f***ing Buzz Lightyear movie. With Pixar animation and all. With emotion. Without toys. With everything that everybody who ever was cool ever wanted when they first saw Buzz stunt in Toy Story. God. Damn.

But, hey... I'm making you wait for what you came for. Here you go, the Buzz Lightyear trailer:

Obviously, this movie is not a weird toy-come-to-life adaption. Nuh-uh. This is straight up OG astronaut Buzz Lightyear – the man, the myth, the legend, whose likeness the manly, mythical and legendary toy was modeled after.

So, shall we be pretentious, and do a trailer analysis, as if we know better than you? Nah. We ain't about that. What we're about is the hype, son! And this looks like Star Wars animated. This looks like a goddamn epic. This looks like Finding Nemo for a whole new generation... in space. This has got mega-hit written all over it, and... it has Chris Evans voicing Buzz, because... of course. A broad-chinned and true American. Who better than Captain America to do the honors.

The movie is due to be released on June 17, 2022, so we don't really have to wait all that long. There's no word yet on whether this will be another Disney Plus release, or if it will be a traditional theater's movie. In my non-expert opinion, this one will open at the movies, because a) trust me bro, COVID will be over, and b) this is much too big of a name and potential all-time grossing animation film, to not let it hit the silver screen in all its glory.

By the way: Y'all know that this means we're getting a Woody movie next. Just saying...
