Netflix has officially confirmed what fans were already hoping for: Devil May Cry Season 2 is on the way. After a successful first run in April 2025, the demon-slaying continues – but what exactly do we know about the next chapter?

Devil May Cry Season 2 | Everything We Know So Far

While Netflix hasn’t shared a release date yet, one thing’s clear: Season 2 is happening. The story, centered around half-demon Dante and his ongoing battle to stop the apocalypse, struck a chord with fans – and it’s far from over.

The second season is expected to raise the stakes. With the barrier between the human and demon realms under threat, and a mysterious villain trying to tear it down, all signs point to more high-octane battles, deeper lore, and possibly new faces from the games. Vergil? Trish? Lady? There's plenty of potential.

The anime draws loose inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, which opens the door for some poetic hellfire. The first season already hinted at big reveals around Dante’s lineage and his connection to the demonic underworld – Season 2 will likely push that even further.

Production remains in good hands. Adi Shankar (the man behind Castlevania and Captain Laserhawk) is still on board, with Studio MIR (known for The Legend of Korra and Dota: Dragon’s Blood) handling animation. If they keep the quality up, we’re in for a wild ride.

What Happened In Season 1

Devil May Cry Season 1 dropped on April 3, 2025, bringing eight episodes of guns, swords, demons – and one very stylish protagonist. Dante, a cocky mercenary with supernatural powers, takes on jobs eliminating demons who’ve slipped through from another realm. The worlds of humans and demons have long been separated by a mystical barrier, but something – or someone – is trying to break it.

Enter a terrorist in a white rabbit mask with plans to destroy that barrier, using an ancient amulet that just happens to be hanging around Dante’s neck. As if that wasn’t enough, a shady government task force called Dark Realm Command also wants what Dante has, and they’re not exactly asking nicely.

Along the way, Dante discovers more about his own origins – he’s not just a man with cool weapons, but a powerful hybrid whose demonic blood may hold the key to saving or dooming both realms.

The series was written by Alex Larsen and created by Adi Shankar, whose previous work on Castlevania proved he knows how to adapt a video game universe. The slick animation by Studio MIR, combined with fast-paced action and a tight story arc, made Season 1 a stylish debut with plenty of room to grow.

Background: From Game to Anime

This isn’t Dante’s first rodeo in anime form. Back in 2007, Japanese studio Madhouse released a short-lived Devil May Cry anime, but it ended after one season. Netflix’s reboot takes a different approach: more serialized storytelling, tighter narrative threads, and higher production value.

With Season 2 on the horizon, Devil May Cry looks ready to carve out a long-term home on Netflix. We’ll keep you posted as soon as there’s a trailer, teaser, or demon-slaying sneak peek.
