Lucasfilm and Disney+ have given us a set release date for the new anime Star Wars: Visions. That's not all! We have also received a few pictures to feast our eyes with. The first look pictures look really promising!

Star Wars is going full Japanese! Lucasfilm and Disney+ presented some exciting news at Anime Expo Lite. The Star Wars world will be presented through the eyes of seven Japanese studios in a series of animated shorts that will all come out at the same time. Point your eyes to this fall, everyone!

When Is the Star Wars: Visions Release Date?

Star Wars: Visions is coming out on September 22, 2021. There will be a total of nine episodes by seven different studios, all of which will be released at the same time. Each studio will be allowed to insert their creative vision on their own production and will have all of the Star Wars characters at their disposal to do so. Regardless, the stories are going to stand on their own feet and won't be part of the official Star Wars lore.

Here is more on the project, coming straight from the source - Lucasfilm Vice President James Waugh:

We really wanted to give these creators a wide creative berth to explore all the imaginative potential of the Star Wars galaxy through the unique lens of anime. We realized we wanted these to be as authentic as possible to the studios and creators who are making them, made through their unique process, in a medium they’re such experts at.So the idea was, this is their vision riffing off all the elements of the Star Wars galaxy that inspired them — hopefully to make a really incredible anthology series, unlike anything we’ve seen before in the Star Wars galaxy.

Sounds amazing, right? Well, it looks just as amazing and here's a first look in the Star Wars: Visions trailer:
