The Asian section of the ESL One Rio closed qualifiers includes several sub-regions, which means we have a lot of geography to go through. Let’s see what happened on the largest continent during the past few days.

ESL One Rio Asia closed qualifier: Oceania

The two spots up for grabs in the Oceania region were occupied by the two overwhelming favorites Renegades and ORDER. In fact, it was these two that met in the winners’ final, won by the Renegades. ORDER later prevailed in the lower bracket, so they’ll also be present at the Minor.

ESL One Rio Asia closed qualifier: China

Mainland China was very much similar to Oceania. We had a pair of outstanding teams and they did what they were obligated to. ViCi Gaming defeated Tyloo 2-1 in the upper bracket but EHOME could not do the same in the lower. Tyloo’s 2-0 victory guaranteeing their spot in the next stage.

ESL One Rio Asia closed qualifier: East Asia

The final region to hold two Minor places, East Asia deferred from the set model in the previous two closed qualifiers we looked at. MVP PK, usually a powerhouse in the region, could not even make it to any of the finals - upper or lower bracket. In their stead, Mongolia showed its strength by occupying the top spots via Mazaalai and TIGER.

ESL One Rio Asia closed qualifier: Southeast Asia & Middle East

I am extremely delighted to announce that Camel Riders will be playing in the ESL One Rio Asia Major. The international lineup defeated Aequus Club from Israel in the Middle East final to grab the only Minor place. Southeast Asia’s sole representative in the next phase will be Lucid Dream who 3-0’d Beyond Esports in the closed qualifier final.
