5. Lorenzo Insigne (Napoli) - 85 OVR: The little winger opens the list with a lot of pace and nifty dribbling on the left side. His only shortcoming is hidden in the pun I just made: he is very short and therefore lacks the physical stats to be a meta player in FIFA 21.
4. Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan) - 85 OVR: Italy just loves goalkeepers named Gianluigi. This one is playng for Milan and not Juventus, but his countrymen will love him just as much if he does what Buffon did: win the World Cup with Italy.
3. Marco Verratti (Paris Saint-Germain) - 86 OVR: Marco Verratti was picked up by PSG from Serie B. What a marvelous piece of business he's turned out to be! Not really viable in FUT because of pace, but a fantastic player in real life for sure.
2. Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus/Piemonte Calcio) - 87 OVR: If there is a legend on this list, it's this guy. He broke into the Juventus starting eleven in 2006 when the club was thrown into Serie B. A blessing in disguise as he is still there 15 years later, captaining club and country to success.
1. Ciro Immobile (Lazio) - 87 OVR: After a Juventus legend we follow with a Juventus youth academy graduate that went on to do great things for other clubs. Immobile was never a bad player, but he does have a little Antonio Di Natale vibe to him as he became a scoring machine in his late 20s. Lazio got themselves a striker!
Italy is tied with Germany as the most successful European nation in the history of the World Cup. You can't do that without having great players. We go through the best Italian players according to FIFA 21 and rank them in a top 5. Not exactly a Totti and Maldini type of generation for Italians, but there is enough quality to go around.
