German FIFA professionals associated with clubs in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga will have to wait until November 10 for their season's kick off. For every other German FIFA 21 player there is the VBL Open.

The opening signal has been given for the German FIFA esports scene. A few days before the VBL Club Championship 2020/21, clubless professionals will fight for the championship trophy in the VBL Open.

The VBL Open 2020/21 marked the new FIFA season on November 1. All German FIFA professionals who are not under contract with a club from the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga compete to determine who's the best among them.

The VBL Open will be played in the new 90 OVR mode of FIFA 21, meaning that the strength of all players will be adjusted to 90 OVR to ensure equal opportunities. This mode is an upgrade of the 85 OVR mode from last year, going for even more excitement.

Participants in the VBL Open will play up to 90 games a month, with the 13 best PS4 and Xbox players of the month moving into the playoffs in February.

The 104 participants will meet twelve professionals from the VBL Club Championship and compete for a ticket to the Grand Final at the end of the season. Of course, players that are contracted to traditional esports organizations will be competing. This includes some of the most famous German FIFA professionals like Mohammed "MoAuba" Harkous and Elias "EliasN97" Nerlich.
