Remember Flashpoint? Yeah, that league that was supposed to blow EPL out of the water. Well, it's second season was just announced. If you're among the three people that eagerly awaited the breaking news, congratulations, you got your wish.

Flashpoint's first season was far from the smash hit we were promised. It did deliver on drama, which is always a welcome sight, but the level of competition was low and it led to a natural lack of enthusiasm outside of the core fanbase of participating teams. What's even worse is that most of the teams that signed up for the league are in a terrible state at the moment.

Champions MAD Lions are going through some bizarre roster changes, finalists Made in Brazil have two active players, Dignitas' little retirement home project quickly reached its natural conclusion, Gen.G were left without an in-game leader and Cloud9 are trying to build some sort of roster under their new management. That's just a side dish to the omnipresent coronavirus containment measures all events go through. Utter chaos.

Flashpoint Season 2

Organizers are probably scratching their heads right now, wondering what the hell are they supposed to do with this. A business plan is a business plan and Flashpoint's business plan says Season 2 is scheduled for winter 2020. So that's what's going to happen.

Over the span of a month 12 teams are going to compete in the $1 million league. Seven of the eight founding members return. The eighth is FunPlus Phoenix who still cant find a suitable roster to buy out. Three spots will be covered by invites and the final two will come from qualifiers. The starting stage of qualification - the open qualifiers, take place on October 8 and October 10 and any team able to quarantine in Europe is eligible to apply.

The seven teams returning to Flashpoint Season 2 are:

  • MAD Lions
  • Made in Brazil
  • Cloud9
  • Dignitas
  • c0ntact Gaming
  • Gen.G Esports
  • Team Envy

The main event begins on November 9 and concludes December 6. Good luck to everyone involved. They're going to need it.
