If you’re an avid EarlyGame reader and have looked beyond your favorite game – which I assume is Fortnite – then you know that CoD has the Gulag system. Now we’re wondering: will Fortnite also get a Gulag system soon?
If you’re a Fortnite player, I can’t be sure that you know what a Gulag is. So before we get into whether Fortnite will get a Gulag, let’s talk about what a Gulag even is.
What is a Gulag?
A Gulag is a revival system that originated in Call of Duty: Warzone. If a player dies for the first time, instead of just “being out”, they get a second chance to get back into the game if they manage to defeat their opponent in a 1v1 fight in close-quarters. This battle will naturally only last for a couple of seconds (60 seconds is the time limit) and it’s a fight to the death… or to get back into Warzone.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about why we think a Gulag might be coming to Fortnite soon.
Is Fortnite Getting A Gulag?
There is a good chance that Fortnite will get a Gulag eventually. The reason why we’re all of a sudden saying this, is because of the Fortnite v17.10 patch, where a mini-game has been added to the game. Abductors (UFOs) teleport players to the alien mothership, where they then race against opponents and collect special orbs. This right now really does only feel like a mini-game, or, an experiment.

Epic Games and their collabs, we know where they get their inspiration from: Other franchises, other games. And you know what? That is absolutely okay. But that also means that a Gulag would not be surprising in Fortnite.
And let’s be real, it would also really make sense to have one in Fortnite, especially with Season 7. Imagine being transported onto the mothership and then fighting 1v1 against another player to get a second chance in the BR. If you’re one to suffer from immediate death when landing on the Fortnite island, then this might just be your best chance to win... for once.
