Fans were confused when TikTok creator “Nothing, Nowhere” posted a video where he claimed to have invented Fortnite... whatever that means.

Twitter users went into a frenzy yesterday, when TikTok creator/musician “Nothing, Nowhere” published a Tweet saying that 437k people were currently convinced that he invented Fortnite. The ambiguous Tweet left many Fortnite fans completely confused. Several Fortnite players spoke up on Twitter, and shared their opinions, but is there any truth to the statement... and who the f**k is “Nothing, Nowhere” anyway?

Who the bloody hell is “Nothing Nowhere"?

Joseph Edward Mulherin, better known by his stage name “Nothing, Nowhere”, is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter. Whilst the music he composes is entirely written and produced by himself, he maintains a group of musicians made up of collaborators, who also perform with him under his stage name.

Recently, Mulherin released a cover of a popular Fortnite song onto his TikTok channel. Many fans have praised his music in the comments, and the clip was a success. The new song could have potentially been part of the confusion that followed...

A Video, a Tweet, and a Confusion Salad

As seen in the video, Mulherin seems to be a real Fortnite fan! In addition to his music video, the artist already released other videos on TikTok that were all about Fortnite. But the video that attracted attention was a completely different one.

In this, he addresses why he already has the verification hook on TikTok, even though he hasn't been using the app for that long. His terse, dry response:

I created Fortnite...

Bizarre. Even more bizarre: some TikTok users believed him, with one of his fans writing:

Wow, you really did that? Congratulations, you created the fastest growing game of all time and changed the lives of many people because of it!

Mulherin took advantage of the confusion, and immediately followed it up with a Twitter post.

I currently have 437k people on TikTok who are convinced that I created Fortnite.

So, who created Fortnite?

We can't even believe we have to clarify this, like JeezMagee, some people are insane. Guys. Fortnite was not created by “Nothing, Nowhere"…

Fortnite was first teased by Epic Games in 2011, at the Spike Video Game Awards. Subsequently, the game's release was hinted at just three weeks after the initial idea. CEO Tim Sweeney is the highest in Epic Games’ chain of command, and is also one of the brightest minds in the gaming industry. The game was not made by any one person, but if we were to point the finger, it would be at him.

The game was eventually developed on the Unreal 4 Game Engine. Its original release date was sometime in 2013. In 2015, the creators of the game had 50,000 players play the beta, which allowed the company to really understand the pros and cons of the game, and how to make it better.

Ultimately, though, Fortnite is best known for its Battle Royale mode, which was only released in September 2017. In early 2018, Fortnite Battle Royale finally conquered the world, and made it one of the biggest games on the planet.
