The Recon Scanner is essentially a grenade launcher that also reveals chests and player locations for you and your squad. It’s a rare weapon, so it can appear almost anywhere, but we suggest the best places with the best drop rates. How To Get Recon Scanner in Fortnite Season 7?
The Recon Scanner can be obtained, like any other gun, from ground loot or chests. But if you really want to get this item for your loadout, then you need to find the UFOs on the Season 7 Map and defeat the Trespasser NPCs guarding them. The UFOs spawn near roads or builds, and some locations seem to be better than others.
Where Are The Alien UFOs in Fortnite Season 7?
Possible Spawn Locations of UFOs:
- Southwest corner of Steamy Stacks
- Southeast of Corny Complex across the river and on the bridge
- In the middle of Dirty Docks
- South of Holy Hedges down the road find the UFO at a building outside Weeping Woods
- On an island far South of Catty Corner over the snowy mountain
The UFOs are large and have bright purple crystals as lights, so they will be very hard to miss. Chances are, if you do not see it, another player has already flown away with it! However, it is still worth checking out the spawn location for some Trespasser NPCs. They might still be around for you to loot and kill in hopes of finding a Recon Scanner.
What Does the Recon Scanner in Fortnite Do?
The Recon Scanner is basically a grenade launcher with the same effect as the Flare Gun. But in addition, it also reveals chests, not just player locations.

- Magazine Size: 2
- Fire Rate: 3
- Reload Time: 3.6 seconds
Finally, the Recon Scanner also regenerates its own ammo at a rather slow rate, meaning you should never let the ammo cap. If you have two rounds, shoot one off to start the regeneration timer, so you can maximize the number of shots you will get over the course of your lobby. Your squad should try to have at least one Recon Scanner in their loadout, as this is an amazing tool and a great weapon if you manage to hit someone with the round.
