Super mario galaxy — **7. **SUPER MARIO GALAXY**:** We had to pick a means of breaking the tie, so we decided we are going to value gamers' opinion over that of critics. We're the people's media, you know. This way of settling things means the second-highest rated game by critics (9.7) actually lays in last place in the overall top 7 because of its 9.0 user rating. Tekken 3 — **6. **TEKKEN 3**:** This game holds a spot in my personal gaming heaven. If we had stuck to the top 5 format it would have definitely made it in with the tiebreaker being my personal taste. As it is, it lays at sixth with a slightly better user rating (9.1) than Galaxy, which makes up for the lower critical score of 9.6. (Credit: Namco)

The last of us remastered — **5. **THE LAST OF US**:** **The Last of Us Part 2 may have grabbed all the awards** but we all know which is the best TLOU game. A glance at the user rating of both games gives you all the answers you need: 9.2 for The Last of Us and 5.7 for Part 2. That 9.2 user score slides TLOUS in the top 5 with a 9.5 critical score. The witcher 3 wild hunt — 4. **THE WITCHER: WILD HUNT**: Oh, just the undisputed champion of cross-platform AAA games in the last decade. Wild Hunt comfortably wins the user rating competition on this list with 9.4 and fittingly has the lowest critical rating of all - 9.3. Even in agreement gamers and critics find a way to disagree. Super mario galaxy 2 — **3. **SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2**:** The first part of Galaxy may be last on the list, but the Mario franchise wins in a way by being the only series with more than one entry on here. It was very close to having three, but Odyssey missed out by a single point despite being tied with Galaxy 2 for critical rating at 9.7. Gamers have spoken though and Galaxy 2 makes it in with a 9.1 score over Odyssey, which currently stands at 8.9. (Credit: Nintendo)

Resident evil 4 — **2. **RESIDENT EVIL 4**:** This is perhaps the most dividing title on here. Some weren't pleased with the move towards action and the reduction of classic Resident Evil horror elements. Well, it couldn't have been that dividing if the metascore (9.6) and the user score (9.2) are as high as they are 15 years after release. Oh, we should probably mention that this was another tie won by the higher user score. Sorry, Super Mario, it's just rotten luck. (Credit: Capcom)

The legend of zelda ocarina of time — **1. **THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME**:** You win this one, critics. You may have lost all previous rounds, but the only game rated 9.9 on Metacritic by either critics and gamers takes the gold medal. Even the lowest user rating of all seven games - 9.1 (tied with two others), could not knock Ocarina of Time off its throne. (Credit: Nintendo)

Video game critics and regular gamers don't always see eye to eye. That was very much evident in our galleries covering the most critically acclaimed video games ever and the most beloved video games by fans. We did not have a single game that appeared on both lists. For this gallery, we picked the middle ground: releases that were rated high by both sides of Metacritic. We usually go for top 5s but we had such a strong four-way tie at the bottom that we decided to expand to a top 7. Here goes: the top 7 video games according to both critics and gamers. You can even say: the best games ever!
