Ghost of Tsushima is Coming to PC

Ghost of Tsushima will be the latest PlayStation exclusive to come to PC. It really seems like Sony is selling all its exclusives. When will Ghost of Tsushima release for PC, and how do we even know this? Read on.

Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PC....

You hear that? Yes, that's Sony-Ponys crying into their straw hats (and my colleague Dani).

While this is huge news, we gotta say that it just confirms it: We already knew that a lot of PlayStation exclusives were going to be making their way to PC, and previously wrote about it here:

Is Ghost of Tsushima Coming to PC?

Yes, Ghost of Tsushima will be making its way to PC. How do we know that? The same way we found out Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone were going to be coming to PC: The PlayStation only label was removed from the boxart on Amazon. Yes, it is that simple. In case you are doubtful and are ready to scream 'clickbait': Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone are both on PC and, really, this is no surprise as we knew from the start that a lot of PlayStation exclusives are PC-bound. Also, PlayStation Direct now features the new Ghost of Tsushima boxart without the 'Only on PlayStation' banner. So yes... this is happening.

If you missed when Sony stated its intentions on bringing more PlayStation exclusives to the PC, here's what Sony had to say on this a while back:

Particularly from the latter half of the PS4 cycle our studios made some wonderful, great games. There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognise the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward.

If you haven't played Ghost of Tsushima yet, rejoice, the game is just... chef's kiss. Think Breath of the Wild in grown-up meets a little Red Dead Redemption, and it's all set to the tunes of Feudal Japan. Seriously, this is a gamer's game. Don't miss out.

Ghost of Tsushima PC Release Date

Since all these PC rumors came to pass, we do expect this one to be true too. Mind you, God of War was just confirmed to come to PC, and the game will be released on January 14, 2022. Considering that God of War was released in 2018, and factoring in the fact that Ghost of Tsushima just got its extended edition, we expect the Ghost of Tsushima PC release sometime in Q2, 2022. After all, Sony seems to have increased their speed for PC ports: Days Gone was released in April 2019 and already came to PC in May this year.

Will Ghost of Tsushima Be on Steam or Epic Games Store?

Since all of Sony's games thus far were released on Steam, we expect Ghost of Tsushima to be no exception. Unless Epic decides to splurge some serious cash, Ghost of Tushima will release on Steam, when it comes to PC – either that or it will release on Steam and Epic, just like God of War will in January. It's highly unlikely that Ghost of Tsushima will be exclusive to the Epic store.

Why Is Sony Porting Ghost of Tsushima to PC?

Sony has released a statement a while back that bringing games to PC is highly lucrative for them. Plus, with the shortage of consoles these days, limiting a game to one system is not necessarily profitable anymore. Especially not when considering that Game Pass is available everywhere, for very low costs. Sony is simply playing their market, and trying to reach as many players as possible with their games.

Why Is Ghost of Tsushima So Popular?

To put it in simple terms: Ghost of Tsushima is the mature version of Breath of the Wild. If you consider how popular Breath of the Wild was, then the success of Ghost of Tsushima is no surprise. That, coupled with the fact that Ghost of Tsushima is the first real open-world Samurai game of AAA-value, and it really is a no-brainer that the game would be this popular. Plus, developer Insomniac already delivered top-tier quality with Infamous, and, at this point, it seems they can go no wrong. Rumor has it that their next outing will be a revival of Sly Cooper – Sly 5.
