Crystar:** Easily the most controversial entry on our list. **Crystar holds the lowest critical rating among our picks**, and you'll find a slew of negative, or indifferent, comments under every bit of media you can find on the game. We considered setting the minimum number of ratings higher because of Crystar, but under our final rules, it enters comfortably with over 1600 votes. The people have spoken, so we remain silent. Diaries of a spaceport janitor — **4. Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor:** *"Take in the Trash"* is a tagline deserving of a top 5 spot on any list. Another title critics don't exactly adore, this one doesn't raise nearly as many eyebrows as Crystar. The only real complaints you're likely to find are about pixels. If you try to play the game, you'll understand why. (Credit: tinyBuild)

**3. Superliminal:** Puzzle lovers sure do love their puzzles. We can't blame them in this case, because for the first time, we also have critics agreeing with the high rating. Superliminal is the epitome of mind-bending: depth and perspective are more important to you solving this game, than any mathematical progressions you might have learned in college. Ghost trick phantom detective — **2. Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective:** With all three titles so far coming out in the last five years, you might be suspecting us of preferring newer games. We'll prove that this is far from being the case, with our top two. Ghost Trick is another puzzle game, but it has barely anything in common with Superliminal. It feels much more like an adventure than a stiff puzzle. Can't say underrated for obvious reasons, but definitely a game to try out if you have any tolerance for puzzles. (Credit: Capcom)

Grimgrimoire — **1. GrimGrimoire:** Say hello to our undisputed champion! GrimGrimoire is the oldest game on the list (2007), it has the most amount of votes (2,358), and the highest rating (9.8). You really can't argue with those numbers. Critics may say GrimGrimoire is a Harry Potter rip-off... as if that's a bad thing. (Credit: Vanillaware/Koei)

Immediate disclaimer: This is not a definitive list, and you may disagree with it. We just went on Metacritic, picked out the highest user-rated games ever, and ranked them here for you. "But I can see the same ranking on Metacritic, you fools!", we hear you shout. Not exactly. We thought ranking games with just a few ratings, over well-established titles is unfair and more importantly - inaccurate. To deal with this, we set a minimum limit of 1000 votes in order for a game to be eligible. This shook up the list quite a bit, yet you still won't see any major AAA releases that you might have expected to see.
