Red Bull League of Its Own: We Talk Faker, Esports & More With German Streamer NoWay4U

Red Bull League of Its Own has come to an end. The event was a huge success with World Champions T1 taking on various teams. But the biggest winners, other than the fans, were probably NNO Old.

Red Bull League of Its Own has come to an end and fans truly enjoyed this fun one-day tournament. It was especially exciting for German League of Legends fans, who got to see their favorite streamer team – No Need Orga Old – face off against the best team in the world.

In T1’s second game of the day against NNO Old, the team pulled out quite an interesting comp, with off-meta picks like Zac and Zyra making an appearance. Oh, and Faker did something he’s only done three times before – he used a skin.

Thanks to Kia, we were able to experience this live. As a partner of the "Red Bull League of Its Own", the brand presented the new EV9* flagship at the Berlin Velodrom and invited fans to take a virtual tour of the electric SUV using VR goggles.

NNO are an organization founded by streamers that managed to qualify for the highest regional league. Though the original NNO Old squad was not able to play in the Prime League due to co-streaming rights, they are still active in one of the lower regional Prime League divisions.

They were the most popular team at the Red Bull League of Its Own, facing off against T1, something the streamers could only dream of until this point. T1 took the challenge in stride, creating their own draft strategy, making sure to pick champions that all have an SKT skin.

This marks only the fourth time that Faker picked a champion skin on stage. Sure, there were a few more times where some issues in the client appeared, and he ended up with a skin, but in the 10-years as a professional player, Faker has only intentionally picked skins four times before.

Zeus stole the show on SKT T1 Vayne in the top lane against German streamer Niklot "Tolkin" Stüber, but everyone was especially surprised to see Faker pick SKT T1 Azir as well, showing off his skill on the champion.

NNO And T1 – A Dream Come True For German Streamers

If you’re a German League of Legends fan, then you know the faces of NNO. Mid laner Frederik "NoWay" Hinteregger is one of the biggest streamers in Germany, and he expressed just how much this small tournament meant to him, stating that as a streamer he never thought he would have a chance to play against someone like Faker at such an event.

An event like this is simply an absolute highlight. We're not pro players, which means we would never come to events like this through playing, but we've come here through content. [...] It's simply indescribable what happened today.

During the match, NoWay even managed to kill Faker, his pure elation on display in the face cam during the stream. So, when asked who his next opponent would be, NoWay had some big goals, jokingly wondering whether they could play T1 again in the upcoming year, but actually win.

There is currently no higher honor. Maybe we'll get another chance and win next time... well, that might be a bit of a stretch.

The Red Bull League of Its Own was an incredible tournament, giving fans a chance to watch their favorite content creators take on a giant like T1, with the World Champions also joking around and picking interesting champions we wouldn’t see on stage – or see Faker with a champion skin.

Hopefully we get more ‘for fun’ tournaments in the future, especially with the All Star Game not being a thing anymore. Could Something like League of Its Own be the new replacement in the future?
