THE FINALS open beta has just started and players finally got access to the exciting new first-person shooter by Embark Studios (former Battlefield developers). Unfortunately, many players on Steam are struggling to start the game and are gettting the error notification "Login failed: 500". To fix this common issue, you need to make some adjustments to your firewall settings. This process is relatively easy, here is every step:

  1. Go to your Windows search bar and type in "Windows Defender Firewall"
  2. Click on “Advanced Settings” on the left-side panel
  3. Go to “Inbound Rules”
  4. Search for "THE FINALS PLAYTEST" and click on one of the two options
  5. Select "advanced" and then "Edge traversal"
  6. Last step is to select "Allow edge traversal"
  7. Now do the same for the other "THE FINALS PLAYTEST" file and the game should now be able to start normally.

If the previous solution didn't resolve your issue, it's possible that the error code is related to overwhelmed servers. The developers themselves acknowledged this on Steam, mentioning that the server strain is due to a significant influx of new players. If the earlier steps didn't work for you, you may need to wait until the server load subsides a bit before trying again.
