David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the celebrated showrunners of HBO’s Game of Thrones, were set to embark on a new journey with Disney and Lucasfilm, developing a Star Wars trilogy.

Their vision for the first film, titled The First Jedi, aimed to delve into the origins of the Jedi Order and the creation of the inaugural lightsaber. However, this concept never made it to the big screen.

Benioff and Weiss wrapped their work on Game of Thrones with its final season in 2019, after being announced as collaborators on the Star Wars project in February 2018.

This simultaneous commitment has since led to speculation of a hastened conclusion to the GoT franchise.Tragically, the duo's venture into the Star Wars universe was short-lived.

We had a very specific story idea in mind,” Benioff revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “But ultimately, they decided against it. We understand; it's their company, their IP. We just weren't the droids they were looking for.”

Lucasfilm, the creative force behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises and a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company since 2012, chose not to proceed with Benioff and Weiss's First Jedi storyline.

Instead, the latest Star Wars trilogy, comprising "The Force Awakens," "The Last Jedi," and "The Rise of Skywalker," was brought to life by the talents of J.J. Abrams, Rian Johnson, Lawrence Kasdan, Michael Arndt, and Chris Terrio. One can't help but wonder what Benioff and Weiss might have brought to the Star Wars universe.

What unique ideas could they have introduced for a trilogy, and more importantly, how would they have concluded it? What are your thoughts? Would their take on Star Wars have been a resounding success?
