*Baywatch* entered the Razzie ceremony expecting a conventional drubbing and left with the only trophy designed to soften the insult. In a Rotten Tomatoes–sponsored public vote, audiences picked it over *The Emoji Movie*, *The Mummy*, *Fifty Shades Darker* and *Transformers: The Last Knight*. Twister 1996 — 14. The Joe Eszterhas Worst Written Film Grossing Over $100 Million Award — Twister (1996)

The flying cow was never the problem. Razzie voters aimed at Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin’s screenplay, choosing *Twister* over *Independence Day*, *Mission: Impossible*, *The Hunchback of Notre Dame* and *A Time to Kill*. Rambo Last Blood 2019 — 13. Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property — Con Air (1997) and Rambo: Last Blood (2019)

Most Razzies judge artistic failure; this one arrived with an itemized repair bill. *Con Air* inaugurated the category after its hijacked plane carved through Las Vegas, while *Rambo: Last Blood* resurrected it more than two decades later with tunnels, traps and a body count that made municipal damage seem almost quaint. RV 2006 — 12. Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment — RV (2006)

Robin Williams spends much of RV trapped between a feuding family, an oversized motor home and a sewage hose with impeccable comic timing. Razzie voters named it the year’s worst excuse for family entertainment, ahead of *Deck the Halls*, *Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties*, *The Santa Clause 3* and *The Shaggy Dog*. I Know Who Killed Me 2007 — 11. Worst Excuse for a Horror Movie — I Know Who Killed Me (2007)

The category title sounds like a defense offered at the ticket counter: yes, technically, this is a horror movie. Lindsay Lohan’s dual role as kidnapped student Aubrey Fleming and mysterious dancer Dakota Moss helped *I Know Who Killed Me* dominate seven categories, with her characters counted separately in the Worst Actress tally. Arnold Schwarzenegger earned this prize through the strange achievement of losing eight times. His latest unsuccessful bid came for his silk-robed cameo as Prince Hapi in *Around the World in 80 Days*, but the award folded two decades of unrewarded Razzie nominations into one career punchline. No screenplay, performance or box-office flop won this one; a celebrity-news cycle did. The Razzie ballot bundled Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, their unborn baby, the Eiffel Tower proposal and Oprah Winfrey’s famously battered couch into a single tabloid hydra. Six Days Seven Nights 1998 — 8. Worst Movie Trend of the Year: “Gidgets ’n’ Geezers” — represented by Six Days, Seven Nights (1998)

Rather than roast one production, the Razzies put Hollywood’s romantic arithmetic on trial. “Gidgets ’n’ Geezers” described 58-year-old leading men paired with 28-year-old women, with *Six Days, Seven Nights*, *A Perfect Murder* and *Stepmom* cited as examples. The Razzies rechristened the category for Joe Eszterhas, then handed it to him for *Showgirls*, whose neon melodrama turned Las Vegas dialogue into a contact sport. A rubber shark managed what generations of actors only dream about: a lifetime-achievement prize. The Razzies blamed “Bruce,” the nickname that stuck to the mechanical menace, for diminishing returns throughout the *Jaws* franchise and presented the honor in the season of *Jaws: The Revenge*. That sequel also secured Bruce a Worst Actor nomination, although Bill Cosby ultimately beat him. Dolittle 2020 — 5. The Worst Calendar Year EVER! — 2020

Cinema was granted an alibi; the calendar itself took the blame. With theaters shuttered, releases delayed and daily life supplying more dread than most horror films, the Razzie governors handed a special trophy to that cursed twelve-month stretch as “The Worst Calendar Year EVER!” The gag also acknowledged a practical disruption: streaming releases became eligible while the industry’s usual rhythm collapsed. From Justin to Kelly 2003 — 4. Distinguished Under-Achievement in Choreography — Travis Payne for From Justin to Kelly (2003)

Travis Payne’s résumé includes work with Michael Jackson, but the Razzies judged his beach-party detour far less kindly. *From Justin to Kelly* stranded *American Idol* finalists Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini inside a spring-break musical, where poolside group numbers and an infamous towel routine did much of the storytelling. The regular ballot had no choreography category, so a Governor’s Award was invented for Payne’s “distinguished under-achievement.” It was the film’s lone win that night after eight nominations—a remarkably elaborate step toward one Raspberry. | © 20th Century Fox

The Last Airbender 2010 — 3. Worst Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D — The Last Airbender (2010)

*The Last Airbender* turned a beloved animated fantasy into a dim post-conversion 3-D experience, and Razzie voters decided ordinary failure did not adequately describe the eyestrain. The movie beat *Clash of the Titans*, *Saw 3D*, *The Nutcracker in 3D* and *Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore* in the newly minted category. It also collected Worst Picture, Director, Screenplay and Supporting Actor, giving M. Only *Jackass: The Movie* could receive an insult involving flatulence and have it sound suspiciously like audience targeting. The franchise’s first feature beat *Crossroads*, *Eight Crazy Nights*, *Scooby-Doo* and *xXx* in this one-season category, which treated juvenile gross-out comedy as both demographic strategy and atmospheric condition. The joke lands differently here than with most Razzie winners: bodily functions, bad taste and reckless stunts were the advertised product.
