15 Epic Video Games With Hilariously Easy Final Bosses

1-15

All that, for this?

Cropped Assassins Creed II

15. Assassin's Creed II (2009)

Rodrigo Borgia spends all of Assassin's Creed II as a powerful Templar mastermind. After a battle involving ancient artifacts, Ezio corners him beneath the Vatican for a surprisingly simple fistfight. Years of revenge end with the Pope getting punched into submission and spared. | © Ubisoft

Final Fantasy VII

14. Final Fantasy VII (1997)

Nobody walks away from Sephiroth expecting a clean fight, yet Final Fantasy VII hands you one anyway. Safer Sephiroth has flashy attacks and an even flashier name, but the actual pattern barely punishes mistakes. Supernova looks apocalyptic and does less damage than it threatens. The game spends a hundred hours building a legend and about five minutes letting you beat him. | © Square Enix
Mass Effect 2

13. Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Glowing weak points are not subtle. Mass Effect 2 ends with the Human Reaper, a towering nightmare construct that telegraphs its one vulnerable spot in bright orange light. Aim there, dodge the arm swipe, repeat until it collapses. A trilogy obsessed with hard choices wraps up on a target you could hit half asleep. | © Electronic Arts
Dark Souls

12. Dark Souls (2011)

Parrying breaks Dark Souls wide open, and Gwyn is proof. The Lord of Cinder gets hyped as the last real threat standing between the player and the ending. In practice, his attacks are slow enough to riposte into near oblivion. A boss built around tragedy turns into a timing drill anyone can learn in two tries. | © Namco Bandai
Borderlands

11. Borderlands (2009)

Size does not equal difficulty, and the Destroyer in Borderlands proves it badly. The thing barely moves, tucked behind a weak point that glows like a neon sign. Players circle-strafe a planet-sized eyeball tentacle monster and win without much strategy involved. After dozens of hours chasing better guns, the vault's big secret folds in under a minute. | © 2K Games
Demons Souls

10. Demon's Souls (2009)

True King Allant is the final threat in Demon's Souls, but he's barely a threat at all. After defeating the far deadlier False King, players face a crawling lump of flesh with painfully slow attacks. A game famous for brutal difficulty ends with an enemy that can hardly fight back. | © Sony Computer Entertainment

Far Cry 3

9. Far Cry 3 (2012)

Vaas gets built up for hours as the reason Far Cry 3 works at all. Then the game takes the controller away and turns his death into a cutscene with a knife prompt. No gunfight, no chase, just a quick-time button press ending the most memorable villain in the series. Ubisoft wrote a monster and gave players a button. | © Ubisoft
Fallout 3

8. Fallout 3 (2008)

Talk your way past the final threat or shoot it a few times, either works. Fallout 3 lets the wasteland's last obstacle fold under light pressure or a persuasive dialogue option. There's no real defense, no phase two, nothing resembling a last stand. Bethesda built an apocalypse that ends on a shrug. | © Bethesda Softworks
Cropped Dom And Marcus Gears of War 2006

7. Gears of War 2 (2008)

An orbital laser does the work nobody else in Gears of War 2 gets to do. The Locust threat that drove two games of bloodshed gets erased from orbit with barely a fight involved. Pulling a trigger on a satellite link isn't exactly cover-based combat. The genre that made chainsaw guns famous closes out on a cutscene with extra steps. | © Microsoft Game Studios
Batman Arkham Asylum

6. Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009)

Joker spends all of Batman: Arkham Asylum pulling the strings, only to turn himself into a giant Titan-powered monster for the finale. Instead of an epic showdown, Batman just beats up waves of thugs, dodges a few predictable attacks, and pulls Joker down for some easy punches. Gotham's greatest criminal mastermind goes down to the same tricks players have used all game. | © Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Bioshock

5. BioShock (2007)

A philosophical shooter about free will ends with Frank Fontaine turning into a generic muscle monster. BioShock spends its entire runtime subverting expectations about choice and control. Then it hands you a fight that cycles through the same three attack patterns until his health bar empties. The idea of Rapture outlives the game meant to end it. | © 2K Games
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

4. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)

Alduin talks a big game for the whole runtime of Skyrim. He burns villages, scatters dragon priests around the map, and gets called the World-Eater by everyone with a speaking role. None of that shows up when he finally lands in front of you, swinging slower than a city guard and dying to the same shout you learned an hour in. Bethesda built a god and gave him a guard's moveset. | © Bethesda Softworks
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild

3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017)

Calamity Ganon spends all of Breath of the Wild as a rumor, a painting, a voice behind a hundred years of ruin. The payoff is a slow-moving pig creature with glowing spots that might as well have arrows painted on them. Horses, elemental arrows, remote bombs, nothing about this fight asks for strategy. A hundred shrines of puzzle solving ends on a target that barely moves. | © Nintendo
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor

2. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (2014)

Sauron shows up for maybe five minutes total in Shadow of Mordor. Everything before that is built around the nemesis system, orc captains with grudges and personalities and real menace. The actual final fight strips all of that away for a string of quick-time prompts. The game that made enemies feel unpredictable ends on something a controller could complete itself. | © Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Fable II

1. Fable II (2008)

One bullet. That's the entire fight against Lucien at the end of Fable II, a villain who murders your family and haunts the whole story. Players waited through a full game of buildup for a confrontation that ends before it starts. Lionhead wrote a revenge plot and handed out the shortest ending in the genre. | © Microsoft Game Studios
1-15

After dozens of hours battling through punishing enemies and brutal setpieces, these games capped everything off with a final boss so underwhelming it almost felt like a joke. Here are 15 epic video games with hilariously easy final bosses.
