15 Movies That Had No Business Being as Good as They Were
7. Captain Janek
Captain Janek doesn’t care much about alien gods or ancient secrets – he’s just there to do his job and keep his crew safe. But when things go south, he steps up without hesitation. Idris Elba gives him a quiet, rugged charm that makes his final act of sacrifice hit even harder. | © 20th Century Fox
6. Andy
Andy is a glitchy, older-model android programmed to protect Rain like a brother – and he takes that job seriously. Loyal and emotionally complex, he brings real heart to Alien: Romulus. David Jonsson’s performance adds a quiet depth that makes Andy stand out among the franchise’s many synthetics. | © 20th Century Fox
5. Walter One
Walter One was designed to be safe and obedient – the anti-David. But when the two clash, his quiet strength and precision make him a worthy match. Fassbender’s subtle performance brings depth to this restrained but sharp android. | © 20th Century Fox
4. Science Officer Rook
Science Officer Rook is a high-tech echo of Ash, recreated with Ian Holm’s likeness for Alien: Romulus. Programmed to recover Xenomorph DNA and a radical serum for Weyland Corp, Rook isn’t evil – just built to follow orders, no matter the cost. | © 20th Century Fox
3. Science Officer Ash
Ash may seem like a by-the-book science officer, but he hides one of the franchise’s biggest twists - he is an android sent to protect the alien at all costs. Cold, calculating, and secretly loyal to the company, his betrayal nearly kills the crew. | © 20th Century Fox
2. David 8
David 8 starts as a polite, curious android, but soon becomes one of the franchise’s most chilling villains. Obsessed with creation, he turns on humanity and wipes out an entire species in the name of his twisted experiments. Michael Fassbender’s cold, brilliant performance makes him unforgettable. | © 20th Century Fox
1. Ellen Ripley
Ellen Ripley is the beating heart of the Alien franchise – tough, smart, and impossible to forget. Sigourney Weaver redefined what a sci-fi action hero could be, earning an Oscar nomination for aliens and breaking gender norms in the process. Decades later, Ripley still stands as one of the greatest characters in film history. | © 20th Century Fox
