What Can We Expect From Black Mirror Season 7?

Creator and ongoing writer Charlie Brooker has already confirmed that we can expect more of the original Black Mirror. After attempting to introduce non-tech-related, more horror-leaning episodes under the name Red Mirror, which received mixed reviews, the show is quite literally going back to its roots. We’ll see new adventures of the USS Callister in the series' first-ever episode sequel.

They’re all sci-fi stories, but there’s definitely some horrifying things that occur, but maybe not in an overt horror-movie way. There’s definitely some disturbing content in it

Furthermore, he has given a little bit more insight into what to expect from the episodes.

We’ve got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional.

So far, all episodes have fallen within a spectrum between the shortest episode, Mazey Day (40 min), and Hated in the Nation (89 min). The SAG defines a feature film as anything above 80 minutes.

Black Mirror Season 7 Trailer

Yesterday, we got the first – and, based on the number of trailers for previous seasons, probably the only proper – trailer for the new season. Not only do we see glimpses of the first-ever Black Mirror sequel episode with USS Callister, but also, surprisingly, Colin and his boss from Tuckersoft in Bandersnatch. However, it's unlikely to be another interactive episode, as Netflix would have announced that. We also catch a glimpse of Peter Capaldi, who looks like a crazier version of Mark Rylance in Ready Player One.

Has Black Mirror factually dropped in quality based on ratings, especially with those non-tech episodes? And have they completely moved away from the original concept of unknown actors delivering outstanding performances? First off: Charlie Brooker has said they’re going back to their roots. Secondly: Paul Giamatti. I’m sat.

Are you excited for the new season of Black Mirror and the return to its chilling sci-fi roots? We’ll keep you updated with all the latest news!
