EarlyGame's Letterboxd – the answers might surprise you.

Look. You love it, I love it. Of course, I’m talking about the top 4 Letterboxd videos. It seems like if you have stepped foot onto a single red carpet over the past three years, someone has held a Letterboxd microphone in front of you, asking what your top 4 movies of all time are. But have you ever wondered what your favorite nerds from EarlyGame chose for their Top 4 list? No? Well, I did, and the article has been written, so here we go.
Sixteen colleagues from all kinds of different departments, all united by their understanding that the word nerd is a compliment, have answered my question. Let's analyze their picks, shall we? And just a little disclaimer: this is all in good fun! No feelings were hurt in the creation of this article – apart from mine.
Analyzing The Chaos
Little surprise: The director with the most mentions (six) is Christopher Nolan, and the most named movie series is Star Wars. In fact, it's not even the fan-favorite Empire Strikes Back that takes the cake – the most mentioned movie across all lists is Star Wars: Episode III, earning the high ground with three mentions. Therefore, congrats to Marlo for being the perfect embodiment of an EarlyGame worker by having Inception, Interstellar, and Star Wars: Episode III in your top 4.
In order to award the best and the worst Top 4, I took the average IMDb score out of all of them to rank them.
With an average rating of 8.7 and only 0.3 points ahead of Malena, the winner is: Stoyan (Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King, Inception). Congratulations! You’re like ChatGPT was given the question, and in order to come off as human, he says what everyone says – in a good way.

If you make a ranking, someone has to come last. And oh boy, this wasn’t even close. With an average ranking of 6.6 and a gap of 0.7 points to second-to-last Verena, the "winner" is: Tanja (Princess Mononoke, Pretty Woman, New Moon, and Dragonheart).
My guess? This woman stops watching after the first 60 minutes of Anora and rates it 10 stars, loves PS2 graphics voiced with a Scottish accent, and confuses the Razzies with the Oscars. You think nobody would pay for nonsensical, cliché-driven screenplays written by AI? I know at least one person who would looove to.
I will not apologize for having a soft spot for bad movies, boosted by childhood nostalgia. New Moon, you will forever be famous. This is slander! Slander, I say!
We also have matches like Tanja and Daniel both picking Princess Mononoke. That's ironic, since Daniel usually only impresses 4th graders with his picks of Deadpool & Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home (no bad blood, though!). Luis, Karlson, and Timo need to make that Star Wars: Episode III watch party and invite Stoyan to convince him to change his Empire Strikes Back pick. And finally, even if Marion Meyer and Johanna do not agree on the same film, they can bond over their love for Shrek with a Shrek marathon.
The Special Ones
While most picks are similar to the mainstream, some are nothing but.
Max apparently is the only person who understood what the architect was mumbling about since he picked Matrix Reloaded. Timo went with the Nolan Batman but then picked Batman Begins and THE BEEKEEPER?! Friends with Tanja? Nazarii picking Bucha, a film with less than 1000 IMDb votes. We get it, you're a cinephile.
But the strangest pick of them all goes to Florian with Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry, a documentary about a privileged 19-year-old white girl. This man said Citizen Kane could never!

So, what did we learn form all of this?
- You definitely need to see Star Wars 3 and a bunch of Nolan Films.
- Only one German movie pick, and then it's the Schumacher documentary – what?!
- The nerd charm of the good people of EarlyGame is only matched by their kindness and cooperativeness in creating cool stuff.
- Most picks are heavily influenced by childhood nostalgia.
